Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti and vice president Adriano Galliani both praised Andriy Shevchenko after he scored his first goal since his return to the club in the Uefa Cup match against Zurich tonight.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was satisfied with his team's performance in the 1-0 victory away to Zurich in the Uefa Cup which, coupled with their 3-1 win in the first leg of this knockout round, sees the Rossoneri through to the group stage.

"We suffered a bit, in the first half they pressed us a lot but we still had clear chances to score," he commented. "Sheva and Ronaldinho are both back to their best, also from an athletic standpoint. Too bad about Kaladze, he was doing well, after a difficult start.

"We've rested some players for the match at Cagliari [on Sunday in Serie A], there's no problem, we only have to think about winning this game at all costs and end this series of games well."

On the team's refound defensive solidity, Ancelotti said: "Now we've played two games without conceding goals, this makes me happy, we do have some injuries at the back but after the international break Senderos and Nesta will be back. During the break I also hope Ronaldinho's condition will improve even more, and I hope Borriello and Inzaghi will also be back soon."

Meanwhile, vice president Adriano Galliani underlined that Milan's new purchases conjured up the winning goal tonight: "People said we bought players, Golden Ball winners, like stickers to fill up an album, but tonight one Golden Ball winner gave an assist to another Golden Ball winner, I'm starting to like this.

"I'm very happy, I saw players like Antonini and Emerson give their all on the pitch, despite not having played much lately. In the first half we created three clear chances, too bad we didn't take them. Let's hope to continue like this, and always play at night, because all five of our victories have come at night!"

Galliani concluded by emphasizing the huge embrace the players gave to Andriy Shevchenko after scoring his first goal on his second stint at Milan: "I'm happy for Sheva, people said the players didn't want him back, but the celebration after the goal shows how much everyone still loves him."
