The Jazz had 10 healthy players in uniform Wednesday, and with a suspension of Greg Ostertag likely to remove the veteran center from action Saturday and perhaps longer, O'Connor is examining his options. Trouble is, with 15 players under contract, "in order to bring in another player, we would have to cut someone," the senior vice president of basketball operations said.
"We're going to wait a day and evaluate where Matt [Harpring] is at," O'Connor said, referring to the Jazz's small forward, who has sat out the past two games with an inflamed right knee. Presumably, if Harpring is able to return soon, a roster move would become less urgent.
Rookie C.J. Miles also is available if O'Connor decided to recall him from the NBADL, where he has played seven games with Albuquerque. But Miles is a guard, which is only of marginal help. With Robert Whaley, Carlos Boozer, Ostertag and Harpring sidelined, the Jazz's real need is in the frontcourt. For the moment, O'Connor said, Miles will remain with the Thunderbirds.
A trade also is possible, though probably not imminent. "Between now and the trade deadline [Feb. 23], we'll talk to a lot of people," O'Connor said. </div>
