I wonder if ATL completely whiffs in free agency and dedicates to a full and complete rebuild, if they'd be open to trading Horford, as he is 27, and I'm not sure he'd want to go through a complete rebuild.

    Something like that, possibly.

This is purely speculation, no link or source or anything. Just spit balling.

Amusing--ESPN's trade machine now lists Aldridge as a center. He should write them a sternly-worded letter.

It was Batum Meyers and Barton for Al Horford

Well sure, but why would Atlanta? If they're going to have an 8 figure salary on their books while they're rebuilding, wouldn't they rather have Horford than Batum+?

Why is that? Batum is younger and makes less.

3 years younger, only owed $800K less total over the next three years, and Horford is simply a better player than Batum. The cost disparity isn't enough to override the talent disparity.

Horford? You gotta be kidding! He would not "move the needle".

Are you serious? An All-Star big man doesn't move the needle?

Lmao!!!! You put horford next to Aldridge and they will definitely move the needle. Also; if that did happen; then you use cap space to get Iggy or someone of that type of value. Maybe get a veteran wing and big

I am soooo into this possibility! This would be an epic move. Also batum is a good young player for Atlanta to build around. They need to start with a wing then move from there. If they somehow tanked enough to get wiggins; the batum/wiggins combo is a strong core.

Re: ATL Hawks Strike Out in FA - Complete Rebuild?

If we had a guaranteed 2014 pick, I think we could make it happen, but we don't. We might lose our pick to Charlotte. I just don't know if I see ATL moving Horford without getting something good back.

Re: ATL Hawks Strike Out in FA - Complete Rebuild?

3 years is a lot for a rebuilding Franchise. Plus they get Meyers and Barton. May even have to toss Wes in. Then use the money that will. E freed up on Tony Allen and a new SF. Horford is a legit needle moved at C. I justdoubt they do it

I don't know if I would give up Wes too. I would much rather use him in another trade.

Re: ATL Hawks Strike Out in FA - Complete Rebuild?

I think ATL might do it. Batum and Leonard are a couple nice young pieces. They would definitely fit a "rebuild" mold.

The only thing is, you move those guys for a center, it leaves a huge gaping hole at small forward. Let's say we sign Iggy with our cap space (or most of our cap space), can he play SF? Maybe move Matthews for someone like Thad Young.

    So Horford for Batum/Leonard/Barton

    Sign Iggy for 4/40

Trade Matthews/Draft pick for Thad Young.

    Lillard/McCollum
    Iggy/Crabbe
    Young/Claver
    Aldridge/Freeland
    Horford/O'Neal?

Re: ATL Hawks Strike Out in FA - Complete Rebuild?

I think Iggy was a sf until he went to Denver. He's not getting 10 mil per. I would think around 8.5-9 mil at most.

We would have 2-3 mil left to use in a lopsided trade with Matthews.

Maybe even tossing the idea of Iggy and go with tony Allen.

Re: ATL Hawks Strike Out in FA - Complete Rebuild?

Voodoo is saying Allen wants 6 million per. I don't see how we could afford Allen AND Iggy. I would love it, but unless we dump someone like Matthews for nothing, I don't see us having the cap space.
