After watching these past few games, I just can't justify having him on the team anymore. For too long Ive told myself that the leadership and little intangibles he brings would be much better for the team than Devin Harris and his penetration and scoring ability. Well I'm done. I think we should trade him to the highest bidder - we might be able to get a decent package out of Portland. What do you guys think?
From day one I've opposed the trade to bring in Kidd, as it made Dallas give up their only player who didn't settle for jumpers. Also, Harris was the lone guy that could keep up defensively with the likes of Paul and Parker. Kidd was a move that Cuban pulled off purely to try to make up for letting Nash go. It was an all or nothing move, and quite evidently it is a nothing move now. The only thing Kidd offers is rebounding and passing. Did we really need the extra rebounding with Dampier, Diop, Dirk and Howard? And about the passing, sure Kidd helps out sometimes, but with all the isolations and 1-on-1s that Dallas runs, it doesn't use Kidd's passing to its fullest potential. He is a non-factor on offense, often making Dallas play 4-on-5, and is a liability on defense because he can no longer keep up with the younger, quicker guards. I think that one possible scenario would be to trade Kidd to Cleveland. Lebron has stated numerous times he wants to play with Kidd, and Kidd's offensive deficiencies can be hidden with Lebron on the team. With Lebron's possible departure in '10, Cleveland would do anything to please him. I'd give up kidd for a package of Sczerbiak and filler, possibily Delonte West since he would seem like the odd one out (at PG), or even Varejao. After that, making the rumoured Felton trade would make lots of sense, since our starting PG spot would be open. The Bobcats would never do that trade. Why would they trade Felton for Earl Watson? Mohammed's contract expires in 2010. Why would they want to trade him and pick up Diop's overpaying 4 year deal?
Link That's where I got the trade from (the Dallas and OKC and Charlotte part). The Cavaliers part was my own idea to get rid of Kidd.
