Moruihno, and all at Chelsea, have been feeling the damage without enough CB's. John Terry is out injured-again, and with Ferreira off form, A.Cole out, our defence is looking again troubled. In the centre however, there is only Caravalho available. Selling and not replacing in the Transfer Window is asking for trouble. So what if it was a last minute transfer back in the summer, and should Mourihno have bought a defender in January?
All that monaing that Mourinho was doing about his his injuries to his defenders before the january transfer window, you would of thought he would of bought a centre back but no becauses hes a idiot.
I think the fact that Abramovich wouldn't pay a poultry 3mil for Ben Haim as cover is extremely telling. I would prefer Morinho to stay- I think he's good for English football (and the press) however I believe he will be off to Real Madrid in the summer. A very big and sad loss for the Premiership and the fans.
Well we have Essien and he is just as good as anything we could have possibly bought and that gives SWP a chance to start and maybe impress!
Essien is alright as a defender but every team are going to fancy there chances of scoring like when you got punished against Liverpool for not having a proper centre back.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Well it's quite obvious he should of done...but obviously he isn't that smart.</div> As was pointed out, this was not a Mourinho decision during the January window. In the summer, yes, probably they should have. The problem is, Jose really wanted to keep the squad lean to cut down on the whiney superstars who have to ride the bench. I think I would have been tempted to trim in the middle and shore up the defence, but that's me. I don't get paid to run a team.
he Should have, but Abramovich didnt want to spend anyomre money. and he had fallen out with Abramovich so the chances of mourinho getting anymore money was very slim.
The question is who? Top central defenders may well have been cup tied for the champions league. As for Ben Haim, I beleive he is out of contract this summer but Bolton were still asking for £3m for him. They would be paying that for half a season. In the summer they would get him for free.
Mourinho should of definitely bought a defender in January and before the season maybe. Essien is a great player wherever he plays but sometimes his lack of experience and postioning could cost him but Carvalho is reliable and those two work well together.
i dont know what bolton were thinking, asking 3m for him with 6 months left on his contract. im surprised they didnt go for someonelse though.
