it seems everyone is predictiong a pretty bas season for the Raptors, and at best the Raps could possibly make 9th in the east. so should the raptors maybe just go for broke and tank this season to get the worst record in the league, and get a better chance at landing the #1 draft pick. The plus side could be that the raps are a young rebuilding team anyways, so why not try to get a number one pick to help out. The negative could be Chris Bosh getting frustrated staying on a team that continually loses, and wanting out.
If you look at it this way: Scenario 1: We put our veterans for long periods of time to try to win as much as possible. We probably won't make playoffs even if we do this, and our young players will not develop quickly. Scenario 2: If we give Hoffa, SuperNeuva, CB4, Calderon, Hulk, Bonner, and Pape a good amount of playing time, we may lose a few more games in the first few months, but it will be useful for next season and in the long run. I don't really want our team to tank(lose on purpose), but I don't want us to lose and not give our rookies valuable experience. If we can give our rookies valuable experience and get 9th seed, then I wouldn't mind that.
ya i like that idea. beisdes are veterans like jalen rose really in the raps long term future? probably not. the way i see it, is joey is gonna fight for minutes with rose, rose will get p'ed and try to get traded and propbably will.
I am not into 'tanking' anything. I don't think any pro team should. It is a disgrace to themselves as well as the game. Everyone's goal in the Raptors organization is to win....win as many games as they can. With that said, when nearing the end of the season, if the playoffs are an impossibility, play our young guys to give them PT and help their development. If we lose those games and increase our chances to grab the #1 pick, then we do...but at that point in time, it is about developing young guys, not tanking the rest of the season.
^ Exactly. By raps loosing on purpose this season, they will be risking a lot of things. Including their franchise player, Bosh. Raps should just try as hard as they can; play-off or no playoff i see a bright future for the raps. But on the other hand, there was a rumour (said by an ex Raptor; Lammond Murray) that the Cavs were loosing on purpose in order to land Lebron James.
