DeShawn has been a great fit for the wizards not only chemistry wise but also on the court. He is able to run the offense and provide the only perimeter defense our team has. However he is asking for more money next year and Andray Blatche also needs to be re-signed. We got him for 800k a great deal and have our MLE to use next year. But look at free agency, also available is Andres Nocioni and Gerald Wallace both can provide perimeter defense and should be good fits with the Wiz. I personally have yet to decide wether DeShawn should come back another year, however we know Gil and the rest of our team is gonna want him to return and prolly the coaching staff as well. However it was the same story with Larry and Jared which turned out to be great decisions by EG not to re-sign from 30+ mil deals.
DeShawn is one of my favorite players on the team, he's just a guy that plays with a lot of heart and he keeps the team together, like Jamison. He's a solid defensive guard and he can be a dependable shooter from the three. The thing is, DeShawn may think he's better than he actually is. To be honest with you, I think he should get a contract like 3 yr, 10.5 mill. Songaila, Daniels, and Etan are all overpaid. DeShawn is more valuable that all of them (imo), but he shouldn't be overpaid like those guys, either. If DeShawn will not like that offer (or something close to that), then tell him to take a hike. After all, there are plenty more defensive swingmen left in the FA market, a guy like Mickael Pietrus would be great for this team. We won't get Gerald Wallace nor Andres Nocioni, unless we get them by sign-and-trade.
I would re-sign him..he seems very solid for that team from what I have personally seenI like himDidn't he and Etan Thomas have a couple fights during practice? How did that play out?I would get rid of Etan and keep DeShawn
DeShawn is awsome! there's no question about it, they should defently look tore-sign him.One of my favourite players on the Wizards as well.

Although, I agree that DeShawn is a great fit, I'm not sure that what he is offering is reasonable. There are other guys in the market for the Wizards to grab. As long as the offer isn't over 2 mil a year I'm fine with the signing but if he wants a Jared Jeffries/Larry Hughes type offer I just do not think it will be reasonable.
Something can be said of chemistry. The Wiz have played pretty well this year, and it might be worth paying DeShawn a little more than he's worth for the sake of chemistry.

There are other great swingman who could fit on the Wizards such as Gerald Wallace. Also remember the fact that even when DeShawn comes back we need to sign a new backup swingman with Jarvis gone and will need to re-sign Andray Blatche. I'm willing to pay a good amount for DeShawn but would not go as far as sign him to our entire MLE.
He's a good perimeter defender, which we need. I never got the chance to watch him a lot when he was in Orlando, but this guy can put up points if we need him to. I'd resign him, but he's not worth more than what Zards said.
