I think that's the next step for Roy. Bryant, while overrated on defense, does play defense well. That's one big thing that separates him from Dwayne Wade and Brandon Roy. Roy is barely average on defense. Actually, I'm not even sure he is average.
He's a good defender when he wants to be, which he usually saves for the 4th quarter. With Miller on the team now, he should be able to save a lot more energy for defense now.
Roy will have the disadvantage of having short arms on defense, but I think Roy is smart enough to make up for this physical disadvantage. I've seen him move his feet on defense really well in some games, but then again, I've also seen him get abused on defense. If he puts effort into his D, he can probably become a good defender and maybe even make an All-Defensive team.
