http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...kets/index.html "It needs a bully like Danny Fortson or Kenyon Martin. It needs a new identity, or pretty soon it will probably need a new coach." Lets hope Rox start winning or if not it will come to some changes..........
I don't know where he's getting the idea that the Rockets are tuning out Van Gundy. Whenever any of them are asked what the Rockets need to do to turn around their season, they repeat verbatim what Van Gundy has been saying all season ("defend the pick and roll better", "more intensity and heart", "more chemistry", blah, blah, blah). And I don't think the Rockets players are as desirable on the trade market as he makes them out to be.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Then there is Yao Ming, who, despite Van Gundy's best efforts, is looking less Shaquille O'Neal and more like Rik Smits every day. What's stopping assistant coach Patrick Ewing from clobbering him in practice.</div>I stopped reading after that. Yao was never going to be like Shaq. Comparisons have been made to Smits before, but so? Yao isn't either. You don't see him dunking over opponents often, but you won't see him hitting the outside jumper much either in the Rockets' offense. He stays in the low post, but scores in ways more conventional than the traditional low post players.

I do agree with the article that we need some toughness and someone with a killer instinct...Danny Fortson sounds decent but it depends on who we'd have to give up...essentially, this ballclub is a jumpshooting team who lacks in the areas of aggression, taking care of the ball, and rebounding...

But your proposal is not likely to happen at all, although I am expecting a big name to come to coach this team. Phil Jacksson and Rudi are quite favorable to me, but it is just not likely to happen.
Phil Jackson is with the Lakers, and Rudy T still has contract obligations to the Lakers. The Rockets are not a rich team; by firing Van Gundy and buying out Rudy's contract is just not a viable option. If we do bring in a new coach, it'll be a middle-tier coach like Paul Silas or Eric Musselman. Would it make much of a difference?

What I meant is if Phil or Rudy could come to replace JVG, it would be great. Otherwise I prefer JVG to other options. Just an assumption
