Former heavyweight titlist Siarhei Liakhovich, eyeing a comeback after almost a year out of the ring, will put it off a little bit longer after withdrawing Friday from an April 9 fight because of a rib injury.

Liakhovich was supposed to face Johnnie White at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on the pay-per-view undercard of heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek's fight against Kevin McBride.

"Unfortunately, Siarhei reported that he suffered a minor rib injury in training and his doctor recommended that he wait until at least mid-April before he engages in any contact," Main Events promoter Kathy Duva said. "We had been looking forward to presenting Siarhei for the first time in Newark and we are so sorry that his first appearance with Main Events will have to wait, but what is most important is that Siarhei recover fully from his injury."
