The Erie Explosion have announced that Wide Receiver Trumaine Riley has returned to the club for the 2011 season. Riley (5'9, 185) a product of Eastern Michigan University, has developed into an electrifying receiver the past two seasons for Erie. Despite missing 5 weeks due to an ankle injury, Riley was an integral part of Erie's number one ranked offense, finishing with 39 receptions for 526 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2009, he led the AIFA in several special teams categories, including all-purpose yardage (1,460), all-purpose yards per game (122), and kickoff return yardage (22.5 yards per return). Riley led Erie in 2009 in receiving with 57 receptions for 601 yards and 10 touchdown receptions in 12 games. During his collegiate career, Riley caught 95 passes for 952 yards, and finished his career at Eastern Michigan as the most prolific kick returner in MAC History with 2490 yards and a 19.2 per return average. "Trumaine Riley is a threat to go the distance any-time he touches the ball. He is a great fit for our offense and I was very impressed with his work-ethic, character, and athleticism in 2010. His toughness is unquestioned as he played several games last season with a fractured ankle, and I am looking for even greater things from him this year", commented Erie Head Coach Shawn Liotta.
