Am i the only one who feels we should make a run at him. He is only 22-23 years old he still has time to grow. Defensivly he is pretty sound and can help out by blocking shots (averged about 2 in the regular season). In the playoffs he averged 12 and 5 (28 min) regular season was 8 and 5 (about 23 minutes). I say we give him a shot, rebounding isn't impressive but he did have Howard next to him. He will be drawing a lot of interest but i think we have a good shot
I think we should go for a more proven big man. We have Boone, who is only in his second year, a rookie Sean Williams, a coming from injury Krstic, crappy Jason Collins, and Mikki Moore. I love to give Darko a chance over here in NJ, but right now I think we would like to sign someone that's been solid for a while.. Darko seems to still be more of a project.

His rebounding actually isn't bad, especially for playing next to Howard, and he even improved in comparison to his first season in Orlando on the glass. He had about the same rebound rate as Bosh did in 05-06 this past season, and that's while playing with Howard. Bosh averaged 9.4 RPG in 39.3 MPG in 05-06 just so you know. I don't think he'd be bad for New Jersey, he can guard the athletic and quick type big men quite well and blocks shots well, but New Jersey is looking more to produce now than later, so if there's a better move to be made that needs to be pursued first.
The way Collins has been playing for us last year, I would prefer an unproven (but improving) Darko on the team....If the Nets say Williams is as good as he is, then why not get fresh blood at the expense of Collins (i.e. start Williams at PF). The fact of the matter is: Collins can only be bought out or traded. The buyout will be worthless and no one really wants to take Collins in a trade. Furthermore, the Nets don't have the roster space for yet another big man.
Not sure that Darko is what the Nets need. The Nets a need a veteran player that could average 20 and 10 and Darko doesn't do that.
A lot of teams would like a 20-10 guy, but if the Nets can't trade for a KG or Jermaine O'neal, Darko is a good option for them.
