Anderson Silva’s recent comment calling Wanderlei Silva’s move to the middleweight division “pretentious”, has caused Wanderlei Silva to declare war on his former teammate.

“He is too cocky. I hope he can read this. … I never talked anything bad about him; I always respected him. He has always been my friend, always respected me, but now he came with that statement. I can’t understand that. I didn’t come down to 185 to face him. Actually I didn’t have that intention. … Changing divisions and fighting the champion would be too pretentious. I should have to have many fights before facing him, but concerning his last statements, I think the way is open and the war is declared.

Wanderlei also wasn’t happy with Anderson discusses training sessions they had at Chute Boxe

“Anyone who is a man knows that training shouldn’t be talked about. That’s a basic rule for any fighter: training is training. I’ll not say that I already knocked him out in training. … What happens in training has to stay inside the gym. Training is training and a real fight is a real fight.

Wanderlei also made it clear he wants to test Anderson’s skills and bash his face at the same time.

“If he beats Thales, we will meet and we will see if he will be able to do everything he says. … He knows me; I know him. We trained a lot together. He knows my failures, but I also know his failures, and I know nobody has given him a hard time. Nobody has beaten his face badly. I believe the future is pretty promising. Let’s wait and see.”

Fuck earning a shot, make this shit happen Dana + Joe. You guys want to see Anderson fight? You want to see him throw down? Give him an opponent who will stand and trade with him and not fall into his guard whenever Silva tries to strike.

Hendo, Bisping, Maia, Marquardt all can wait. Hopefully Wandy can get by Rich Franklin and earn a shot at Anderson before the end of the year.

Silva's next fight will probably be at 205.

Also, Wanderlei is very likely to lose to Rich Franklin in June, which will take the shine off a possible Silva/Silva fight pretty quick.

Well he's gotten into that Tim Sylvia mode where he is more concerned with winning than fighting the way that got him to the top. I don't know if that is arrogant so much as selfish.

The last fight he had he wanted to go five rounds (to see if he could do it), but it didn't work out that way. This time I think he had the same mindset. He completely controlled the fight and could've ended it at will, IMHO. Not doing so seems to be unprofessional, at least to me.

Look, I have nothing against Wanderlei, I think every person speak what they want. He can say whatever he wants, but I don’t consider a declared war, even because I’m very well settled in relation to what I did and do in the UFC. Regardless of everything, I want to make very clear to everyone that I didn’t get here for nothing, I’m no fool. I started like any other fighter, did a well done job and Wanderlei is a great champion, deserves all my respect. People say that I commented about training... I didn’t comment about training, even because this has no sense. Is a code of honor that all black belt has... People say what they want. I respect everyone, Demian, Thales, Wanderlei, all my opponents. I never lacked with respect to anyone, but also I’m not afraid of anyone. I’m here to fight anyone, I always fought, but about this, "war"... First, to have a war there must be disagreements. I’m ok, I’m not worried about this and people have to stop talking about me. Talk about me is easy, it’s hard to be me. I don’t talk about anyone, I respect everyone. Each one has its limitations, each one has its strengths and weaknesses, but I’m not worried with this, I’m worried about helping Feijão to his fight, Corvo and, then, Minotauro’s fight.

Once again, if I suddenly said something that he said that wasn’t clear, I guess he understood wrong. We have to respect ourselves, even because, from where we came, a gossip results in fight. I like him, when he fought against Chuck I was screaming in the cheer, went to his locker room when the fight ended, but, finally... I always cheer for him to win his fights, I’ll pretend that this never happened, because it’s ridiculous. Sometimes people make us say about some things, but I never said anything that was supposedly disrespect to Wanderlei. Indeed, I talked about Demian, because I think is a bit of pretension Demian commenting that wants to dispute for the belt. I've never done this, I always respect everyone. When I fought for the first time in the UFC, I didn’t ask for the belt, I deserved that. I’ve never challenged any champion, I think that with this I would be pretentious and wouldn’t be myself. But I’m ok, each one knows what to do. I wish all these people who are talking to be happy, I’m not worried about that. My job is well done and I’m not worried in doing gossip.
