For three quarters, the Hawks' loaded offense appeared ready to bust open the game.

Instead, they needed Josh Smith to touch just enough of Andres Nocioni's last shot to hang on and beat the Philadelphia 76ers 104-101 Friday night.

Al Horford had 20 points and 12 rebounds, Joe Johnson scored 22 points and Jamal Crawford finished with 19 for the Hawks.

Nocioni, who scored 15 points, had his 27-footer partially blocked by Smith as time expired, allowing the Hawks to move to 2-0 after wasting nearly all of a 15-point lead.
