The 76ers just got bigger. A lot bigger. The Sixers selected Jahlil Okafor from Duke with the No. 3 overall pick in Thursday night’s NBA draft, a player projected for much of the year to be one of the top two picks in the draft. Okafor was available for the Sixers when Karl-Anthony Towns was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves as the first overall pick and the Los Angeles Lakers made a surprising, but not stunning move given the reports earlier in the day, by taking D'Angelo Russell. Russell had long been linked to the Sixers and was viewed as a player who could give the team a much-needed boost in the backcourt with his passing and shooting ability. However, with Kobe Bryant nearing retirement and the Lakers expected to make a move for some big men during free agency, Russell was the choice. That left Okafor (see profile) for the Sixers. It was a pick that general manager Sam Hinkie couldn’t pass up. Moreover, Okafor is a player that apparently is going to stick around, too. According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers plan to keep Okafor for good. Okafor in the front court with Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid? Can that work? “I don't know. That's not my job to figure out,” Okafor said during his introductory press conference at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. “I'll just go there and work as hard as I can.” - See more at: http://www.csnphilly.com/basketball-philadelphia-76ers/sixers-draft-jahlil-okafor-no-3-overall-pick
