<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">March Madness is in the air, and that means the trash talking among the 76ers is in full swing.

"Creighton is going down," Sixers president and general manager Billy King, a former Duke star, yesterday yelled over to Kyle Korver, who holds down fifth place on the career scoring list for the Bluejays.

Actually, this razzing has been going on all season. Korver bet King early on that Creighton would be ranked ahead of Duke at some point during the year, and now Korver is trying to collect.

"They are [ahead of Duke] right now," Korver said to King. "They're ranked 24th, and Duke's not ranked."

"No, I meant during the regular season," King replied. "This is postseason stuff."

"This is regular season," Korver insisted. "It's the final regular-season poll."

"Which one, USA Today?" asked King.

"Yeah," answered Korver. "It just came out yesterday."

"Well, that's the coaches," King snorted. "They don't know what they're talking about."

    "That ain't right," sighed Korver.

(For the record, neither Creighton nor Duke is ranked in the AP poll, but the Bluejays have 80 points compared with 70 for the Blue Devils.)

King and Korver finally resolved to revise the stakes and bet which alma mater could advance further in the tournament.

"Restaurant of the winner's choice," King said.

    "OK," replied Korver.

Besides Korver and King, five other players and one assistant coach have their former teams in the tournament. The players are Andre Iguodala (Arizona), Joe Smith (Maryland), Rodney Carney (Memphis), Shavlik Randolph (Duke) and Louis Amundson (UNLV).

Assistant coach Henry Bibby has his alma mater (UCLA) in, along with a team he used to coach (Southern Cal).

Iguodala said he was a bit uncertain that his Wildcats would get to the Big Dance for the 23d consecutive season.

"Actually, I didn't know if they were going to make the tournament or not," Iguodala said. "They didn't finish out too strong, but they got in. That's all that matters."

And he said Arizona needs to be watched if it plays the way it's capable of playing.

"If they play good ball, they'll be a scary team, one of those teams that you sleep on and it comes out of nowhere," he said.

Carney has to be pretty impressed with how his Memphis team has performed so far in the tournament, can't say the same for King or Shavlik...

What are you talking about? Duke played a hell of a lot better than Memphis did.

Memphis played like sh!t against North Texas though. Duke played their asses off and lost at the last minute to VCU. There's a huge difference. Memphis is going to get their asses handed to them tomorrow by Nevada. They have no structure or discipline to their offense.

Either way Memphis won 73-58 and is still in the tournament, while Duke is sitting at home, point I was making. Don't try to read to much into it...
