<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Philadelphia Inquirer: It's no secret that the 76ers are looking for a center, especially with the uncertain situation of Todd MacCulloch, Derrick Coleman's status as an unrestricted free agent, and Samuel Dalembert's inexperience - including his missing last season because of a left knee injury.

A team source said that the Sixers have had discussions with Andrew DeClercq of Orlando, who just completed his eighth NBA season. It's unclear whether an offer has been made.

The Sixers' policy is to not comment on potential deals, and DeClercq could not be reached for comment. The 6-foot-10 DeClercq is an unrestricted free agent. Last season, he averaged 4.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17.2 minutes. DeClercq blocked just 36 shots in 77 games.

Though he is not considered a dominating presence, the 255-pound DeClercq can give a team 15 to 20 minutes a game in the pivot. With the scarcity of centers, the Sixers aren't the only team looking at him.

Orlando reportedly is considering re-signing him, but for less than the $3.3 million he made last season. The Magic, like most teams, are trying to cut costs because of the impending luxury tax.

An NBA source said that if Denver unrestricted free agent Juwan Howard signs with Minnesota and the Timberwolves also re-sign center Radoslav Nesterovic, Minnesota might offer former Roman Catholic High and Temple forward-center Marc Jackson in a trade. Howard is rumored to be linked to a number of teams. </div>

About that last comment, I believe that Howard will go to Detroit. It is unlikely in my mind that he will sign with the Timberwolves.

He has basically committed to Minnesota. How would he work with Detroit? He wouldn't start, I can tell you that.

    Marc Jackson

Well, yeah, assuming Brown doesn't start Darko. I can't see him in the SF position ahead of Robinson. I dunno, maybe he would make a good bench player, what the hell do I know?

Exactly. All they really need is a decent back-up center and they'd be set to meet the Kings in the 04 Finals.

I'm with you, Alley-Oop. I think Kenny Thomas is a FA too, so they need to resign him. Who the hell knows where P.J Brown's gonna go, but he seems like a good fit with the Sixers.
