Allegedly the Sixers have traded Hunter and Bobby Jones to the Nuggets for Reggie Evans. I KNEW Bobby Jones would be available! Oh well.

I really don't get this trade from a Sixers perspective, maybe it's a move for down the road but man they're gonna be weak up front this season. They must have alot of faith in Jason Smith after a pretty nice summer league. I can just feel the "We should have drafted Smith" threads on bbb coming right around the corner.

    I feel sorry for Hunter.

The Sixers have been trying to get rid of him since they signed him.

Reggie Evans is starting material and is a better sidekick to Sammy.

The sixers had too many swingmen under contract, and needed to make a two-for-one, or cut someone. Bobby Jones was the obvious candidate, and as I've said, I would have loved to see him on the nets. I'm not sure that this is really an upgrade for them, however.

A trade of two bad contracts. Evans is owed $19 million over four years, Hunter is owed $11 million over three years. Neither has played up to their contracts, particularly Evans. If Evans starts, the Sixer offense will slow to a crawl. He cannot pass or shoot. His BBIQ is dreadful and his cheap shots memorable. Hunter was cut by the Magic, played well in the uptempo Suns offense, was signed to a dumb contract by Philly then abandoned. He was unhappy in Philly (who wouldnt be?). He will now replace Jamaal Sampson at the end of the bench unless this is a prelude to a Camby trade of Camby and the Nuggets didnt want to go naked. .

or maybe the nuggets figured they'd get rid of a year and 8 mil, and in doing so add a pretty good shotblocker off the bench. since that's all he could do, cause he's dumb.

both evans and hunter are dumb, one-trick ponys...hunter can block shots and dunk, evans can rebound and play good defense.

    For Dumpy

The Nuggets likely will waive Jones, a defensive-oriented player who averaged 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds as a rookie last season. He is due $687,456 if he is on the roster Oct. 1 but will receive only $200,000 if released before then.

Whats the hype for Bobby Jones for? Is he really a lock down defender, and can he offer us anything that Antoine can't?

He is allegedly a lock-down defender who can guard the one through four. But then again, so is BRob (allegedly). I had always dreamt of a lock-down defensive unit, consisting of Wright, someone like Bobby Jones, and maybe now Boone and Sean Williams up front. They might not score much, but they could totally exhaust the other team, and could score on turnovers. You leave then in for three or four minutes, create havoc, and then bring in the starters all at once.

that would be pretty cool to see...hypothetically.

So I guess you're hoping that we pick him up over Brob or hite? I'm just trying to get a feel for where this guy's at.

You know, I really don't know. I started my love fest for Bobby Jones before the Nets acquire BRob, and before Hite came on the radar. If BRob is as good defensively as he allegedly is, then there is probably no real difference between the two, but who knows. The nets probably couldn't carry both, at any rate, and it probably wouldn't make sense to cut BRob for Jones, if they are similar players. Hite appears to be a better shooter, but not as strong defensively.
