<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">1) Chris Webber not only appears to be enjoying the year more under Coach Cheeks but through the first six games averaged 20.3 PPG with 9.8 RBG; while Iverson has made a move to catch Kobe Bryant in the scoring race, averaging 30.5 PPG and 7.5 APG entering tonight?s game. Webber had a tough night tonight shooting wise, with a 4-17 night that ended with only 13 points but he made some key plays down the stretch, including some clutch rebounds (although he was only credited with 7). Iverson had for him an average scoring night with 28 points, but seemed to play very unselfishly with 10 assists. Let?s say that the Webber and Iverson combo is still a work in progress but seems to be meshing much more this year ? if it continues to do so, while getting other players involved the Sixers will be a very tough team in the Eastern Conference.</div> link:http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_14964.shtml pretty interesting article. there are more questions and answers in the link.
I think CWebb is in total control over the perception of how well he and AI mesh. AI is in a catch 22, cause if Webber doesn't get numbers we're used to him getting, it's gonna be AI fault. It sucks seen #4 grounded though, it's like trying to watch a bird with clipped wings try to fly. I don't understand why they aren't taking advantage of his superior passing skills though, they should do more pick and rolls with the ball in CWebbs hands.
I think Cheeks is utilizing Webber a little more of the way he should be utilized. I'd love to see them run some back door screens for Iguodala when Webber has the ball in the high post. Webber is getting his touches, and he delivered in the first three games, but has lost his shot in the last three games. He's starting to settle for the elbow jumper a little more now than he did in the first three games. He needs to mix it up a little better like he did in the opener. Like you said AIFan, Webber controls the entire AI/CWebb situation. If his shots start falling then the AI/Webber pick-and-roll will be deadly like it was down the stretch of the Pacer game.
With the talent AI's got around him, 10apg isn't out of the question. He's got to stop pulling the trigger so much and get into a passing game, but they have to knock down the shots as well. He misses out on so many dimes cause guys miss so many shots he sets them up for. But oh well, gotta take the good with the bad huh?
Webber has been cold these last few games. But so far this team is meshing like it should be, and they have got a long way to go.
