Liverpool recorded their first Premiership win over Chelsea under Rafael Benitez, at the sixth time of trying. Early first half goals from Dirk Kuyt and Jermiane Pennant sealed a 2-0 win this lunchtime, with John Arne Riise also thundering a 40-yarder off the bar.
Liverpool deserved their win, with Chelsea rarely threatening Reina's goal, and only having one or two weak shots on target. Chelsea will point the blame at a big amount of injuries, with captain John Terry and fellow centre-back Ricardo Carvalho both out. Ajen Robben also hobbled off midway through the first half with an ankle injury, although Mourinho was relcuctant to let him leave the pitch. Petr Cech, however, did return in goal with protective head mask on, but his new piece of clothing didn't prove to be a lucky charm by any means, with Liverpool coming at Chelsea right from the off. As well as the two goals, Riise went close a few times as well as Alonso and Crouch throughout the game.

Once again, Chelsea will be ruing their decision to sell Gallas and Huth, well alright, Abramovich's decision. Gallas was a major part of Chelsea's side, and Huth was also a decent centre-back, and even though he didn't often play then he probably would have played today. Instead they had to field a makeshift defence, with Essien and Ferriera playing centre-backs.

So, Liverpool have closed the gap on Chelsea to five points, can they catch them? Can Chelsea catch Manchester United? You decide.

Arsenal will catch up to liverpool, chelsea because of all their injury woes and possibly man utd. So i think man utd and arsenal will be the top 2 finishers.
