<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Negotiations to extend the contract of Bulls coach Scott Skiles appear to be over.

Skiles? agent, Keith Glass, said as much Monday during an interview on WSCR 670-AM.

?I?m not talking anymore,? Glass said. ?I?ve talked enough. I think we?ve tried to meet in the middle of things. We?ve just encountered a lot of resistance. At some point, you read the writing and you move along.?

Bulls general manager John Paxson declined to comment, but a team source suggested that negotiations have ?gotten pretty ugly,? and it doesn?t appear likely that the Bulls will offer any more money.

The Bulls? latest offer was for $16 million over four years, plus incentives. The previous offer was worth $17 million over four years, but with just $14 million guaranteed.

The most likely scenario now is for Skiles to coach next season under a contract option worth $2.75 million, then become a free agent next summer.

According to the source, the Bulls have not discussed letting Skiles go and hiring a new coach. The name of Phil Jackson, the most high-profile coach on the market, has yet to come up.

?Scott?s got a contract,? Glass said. ?He will fulfill his contract, whatever that calls for. If they pick up the option, then he?ll coach out his option. At this point, they haven?t done that. I?m sure that will happen around midnight on the 30th of June. He?ll do what he?s supposed to do.?</div>

i just heard about this and its tradgic for this team. thanks riesndork. just give him the damn money the bulls are holding out for only like 4 million more. GIVE IT TO HIM he earned it. everyone knows this is by far the best team chemistry in years.

hell i think they should just excersize the option anyways, skiles might be a lame duck but hes not going to want to hurt his reputation that he just now recoverd.

I cant believe theres a good chance we all wont see scott running our bulls this fall, i was looking so forward to it.

I agree, the Bulls should have took care of this right after the season ended and focused on building on all the positives from last season. These off-season team chemistry issues come back to haunt teams in the regular season. The Bulls and their fans have had to deal with plenty of setbacks already.

This could have a negative impact on their ability to sign some of their free agents as well, or bring in players. Having an unstable situation is a red flag for free agents.
