<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">As part of its preseason buildup, SLAM Online is ranking the NBA's Top 50...in reverse order. Friday, editors called Jason Kidd the league's 34th best player. It's the latest in a series of disses that beat reporter Al Iannazzone and Net PR man Gary Sussman have said is not going unnoticed in the Kidd household. The rankings are based on the players' "value to their teams" and feature excerpts from past SLAM articles.</div>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The 2001-02 MVP award. The league gave it to Tim Duncan but Kidd was robbed. If Nash gets these two, Kidd gets that one. Duncan may have averaged 25 and 12 that year, but the Spurs were outclassed by both the Lakers and the Kings. Kidd, like Nash does now, had an indisputable, overriding influence on the way the game was played while bettering his teammates. And he played defense well enough to make the All-NBA first team that season. He was the 01-02 MVP. Worst case scenario, they could have shared it. Actually, that would have been fitting.</div>

34 is a little too low, but I'm sure everyone will say that I am bias. I wonder what they will rank Nash, because if you put Kidd at #34 and Nash in the top 10 it won't make sense at all.

Nope....they didn't make it as a list. Each day they are writing an article about each player on the list. That's how it works.

That's funny. I would have thought, that if you rank based on importance to the team, Kidd would arguably be in the top 10.

I did not know Andrea Bargnani was better than Chris Kaman, already!

I'm expecting it, but rookies shouldn't be put on this list. They haven't proven themselves.

Wow, I didn't even notice that one. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Even as a Raptors fan, I understand that Bargnani has yet to prove that he can adjust to the NBA, let alone be a top 50 player. Geez, Slam's such a waste of time.

I stopped reading SLAM a long time ago. They just went to crap, I believe.

I remember I was so stoked when I found a good basketball magazine, but now it's another add for LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, and Dwyane Wade.

Talk about a crap list so far. Bargnani shouldn't even be on the list, much less ahead of Josh Smith and Chris Kaman, two players who have had solid starts to their career and have at least done something. Same goes for Morrison. He hasn't done jack either, yet he still cracks the top 50. I wonder what the writer was thinking when he was doing this?

This tells me some things. The people potentially that will be rated higher are Baron Davis, Tony Parker, AK47, Hinrich, Ben Gordon, Redd, Rashard Lewis, Chris Paul over him. All players that are arguable to not at all. Then there's Richard Jefferson. Certainly they aren't going to rate him over Kidd....but then again, they're not going to leave him off the list when they have Bargnani, Morrison, Darko, Diaw, Kaman there..

It's a crappy list. And do you noticed that Non-Net fans agree that the list sucks.

True, i agree that the list is slightly flawed, but kidd is not a top 25 player any more. If you look at the next players that are coming up on the list (dont know exactly what order) they all have a greater statistical signifacance than kidd does. I also dont think Kidd will be the rebounder this year that everyone is used too. I also dont think Rip should be that high, he's completely a 1 dimensional player. All he has is a good mid-range shot, and a team system that works really well for him. I also dont agree with rookies being on the list because there is absolutely no telling what kind of impact they will be having this year.

Josh Howard is a pretty good player, I could understand him being considered better than Diaw.

Bargnani shouldn't be on the list, he is a rookie and probably won't even be a starter at the beginning of the season.

yeah definitly..but diaw was the most improved player..plus hes on the cover for live 07 in france..even though that second one has nothing to do with being ranked,he should still get lower than that

what does winning the most improved player have to do with anything, howard has showed he can play since he was a rookie he doesnt need the most improved award to show he is better than diaw, no one on that list have to on that fact
