Wilkins has asked Julius Erving to introduce him when he is enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in September. "I called Julius Erving; he's been more like a big brother to me," Wilkins said Tuesday. "He was more than honored. It's funny because he's a guy I grew up wanting to be like, and he's introducing me. It's kind of mind-blowing." The longtime Hawk asked Erving two weeks ago to make his introduction. It didn't take long to get his answer. "I was nervous to ask him, really," Wilkins said, "but he said, 'It would be an honor to bring you in,' without hesitation." Wilkins said once he found out that an introduction must be made by an existing member of the Hall of Fame, he knew who he was going to ask. His second choice was Clyde Drexler, who also was introduced by Erving upon his induction. Drexler didn't mind taking a back seat to Erving. "We talked about how important Julius was to both of us," Wilkins said. </div> Source
