<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Go ahead and feel warm and fuzzy about the Jazz's decent start to the 2005-06 season. Considering that the last time the Jazz won back-to-back games was in February, Utah has every right to celebrate a 2-1 first week.
Just don't go thinking that all is well within the Delta Center. The coach, for one, isn't kidding himself.
"We've won a couple of games," said Jerry Sloan, "but I'd say we certainly have a long way to go before we could begin to think we're playing well."
That's not all bad. As Matt Harpring said after Friday's win in Oakland, "I'd much rather win ugly than lose pretty."
But as the Jazz embark on their first extended road trip of the season, beginning tonight in the month-old Charlotte Bobcats Arena (5:30 p.m. MST, FSN Utah), Sloan has a handful of nagging weaknesses to address.
There's interior defense, which was weakened even further when Greg Ostertag hurt his knee Saturday; his prognosis is unclear. There's lackluster shooting, both from the field (where Utah hits only 40.9 percent) and from the free-throw line (an aggravating 69.1 percent).
And then there is the backcourt, where Deron Williams' impressive debut is being offset by inconsistent and sometimes indifferent results from the off-guards. Sloan has made it clear he expects more. </div>
