<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jerry Sloan understands how this looks. He knows many Jazz fans are incredulous, even enraged, over the trade that brought Greg Ostertag back to Utah. He even agrees that swapping the potential of youth for the limited ability of a 32-year-old isn't usually a good idea.
But the fans only see what happens on the basketball floor. Behind the scenes, the Jazz's veteran coach said Tuesday, dumping rookie Kirk Snyder for the veteran presence of Ostertag makes far more sense.
"I could see why people would be upset, but they weren't on the buses, in the arenas, in the locker rooms," Sloan said Tuesday shortly after the NBA's moratorium on transactions expired. "You don't always see the things that bring teams together . . . or pull them apart."
And what Sloan saw in Snyder, drafted a year ago with the 16th pick, was a headstrong newcomer resistant to coaching and impatient to play. "He
wasn't very happy here. He told me a number of times he wasn't happy," and finally asked the Jazz to trade him, Sloan said. "That was a concern almost on a daily basis." </div>
