"The Lions weren't in the mood for solace. They didn't want to hear about their perseverance or resiliency or how valiantly they fought. "We aren't happy with hearing, 'Oh, they're better than last year,' or 'They're a good team; we didn't expect them to play this well,'" said receiver Nate Burleson, after the Lions' 28-20 loss to the Giants at the new Meadowlands Stadium on Sunday. "We've heard that too many times. We walk into any stadium, home or away, to win games and the fact that we aren't winning games is completely on our shoulders." Critical penalties, three second-half turnovers, the loss of quarterback Shaun Hill late in the first half, all of those factors conspired for the Lions to match their own NFL record for road futility -- 24 straight losses. They done it twice since 2001. "I don't care about streaks or records," Burleson said. "We're just trying to win games. That streak wasn't motivating us coming into New York. We came here to win." Hill suffered a broken left forearm with 1:06 left in the second quarter and didn't return. "As soon I started putting pressure on my hand I knew there was no way I could handle the ball," said Hill, who said the injury would not end his season. Drew Stanton, the Lions' third-string quarterback, came on. He finished the drive Hill started at the end of the half, which ended in the first of two 50-yard field goals by Jason Hanson." http://detnews.com/article/20101017/SPORTS0101/10170330
