<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">1. Rudy Gay, Connecticut: He didn't have the awesome summer projected by many -- well, me -- but he was just scratching the surface as a freshman when he averaged 11.8 points and 5.4 rebounds. After seeing high school rival Marvin Williams go No. 2 overall in the 2005 NBA Draft, the 6-foot-9 Gay has something to prove this season.

    2. Adam Morrison, Gonzaga: The 6-8 Morrison was a possible lottery pick in 2005 after averaging 19 ppg and 5.5 rpg as a sophomore. Imagine his draft stock in 2006 (or '07; nobody's rushing you, Mr. Morrison) once he improves his 30.9-percent shooting from 3-point range.

    3. P.J. Tucker, Texas: He's a 6-5 bull who enters his junior season still looking for his first college 3-pointer, but he can handle the ball -- and for his size, he's the best offensive rebounder around. Last season he averaged 13.7 ppg, eight rebounds and 2.2 assists before being declared academically ineligible in January.

    4. Alando Tucker, Wisconsin: Another 6-5 bull named Tucker (and don't forget UW-Milwaukee's Joah Tucker, No. 18 on this list), Alando is an explosive athlete who should rebound better than he did as a sophomore (6.1 rpg). If he improves his 3-point shooting (31.5 percent), watch his scoring (15.2 ppg) rise significantly.

    5. Jared Dudley, Boston College: Until suspended center Sean Williams returns at the semester break, Dudley probably will have to play power forward, with Craig Smith at center. Whatever. Dudley, a 6-7 junior, can do just about anything (16.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.6 steals).

    6. Curtis Sumpter, Villanova: He usually defends a post player because of coach Jay Wright's affinity for guards, but this 6-7 senior has the offensive game of a small forward. Sumpter hit 43.3 percent of his 3-pointers last season (15.3 ppg, 7.2 rpg) before suffering a torn ACL in March.

    7. Tasmin Mitchell, LSU: Maybe it's a stretch to rank a freshman this high, but Mitchell has an NBA body (6-7, 230) and the ability to score inside and out. With center Glen Davis demanding double teams and Brandon Bass gone to the NBA, Mitchell will put up big numbers this season.

    8. Vincent Grier, Minnesota: Even without much of a 3-point shot (25 percent last season), the 6-5 senior averaged 17.9 ppg thanks to his athletic ability and savvy. Along with a lot of scoring, he does a little of everything else (5.6 rpg, 2.4 apg, two steals).

    9. Rodney Carney, Memphis: It's time for this athletic freak show, now a 6-7 senior, to become a better basketball player. He averaged 16 ppg and five rebounds last season, too low for a player of his ability. Shooting 32.5 percent on 3-pointers, and 40.5 percent overall, isn't good enough. Neither is his minus ratio of assists to turnovers.

    10. C.J. Anderson, Manhattan: After the graduation of Jaspers scoring leader Peter Mulligan, the 6-6 Anderson could post monster numbers this season. Not that his freshman production was all that meek: 16.1 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.5 steals, 1.3 blocks. When he gets a 3-point shot ... wow. </div>

And we're back to the insanity. No way that Gay > Morrison, or that either Tucker > Sumpter. Dudley at #5? [IMG] And Mitchell, who has yet to play, is better than Vincent Grier? [IMG] Joah Tucker is too low on this list, but it's nice to see C.J Anderson get some love. That guy is a stud.

The only time I see Gay better then Morrison is in draft rankings and even then it's questionable. Tucker is way too high and shouldn't be above Tucker in any kind of ranking.

[IMG] I can't believe I just put that but I meant P.J. Tucker shouldn't be that high, he shouldn't be above Alando Tucker.

Oh my...why put a freshman (Tasmin Mitchell) over the likes of Shannon Brown, Vincent Grier, Malik Hairston, etc who are all proven players. I'd probably move Dudley up to 4th and Alando Tucker up to 3rd; then move PJ Tucker way back to 11th or 12...[IMG]
