Former Connecticut guard Darius Smith joined Eastern Illinois' 2011 recruiting class on Wednesday. Smith, who starred at Marshall High School in Chicago, was originally part of UConn's 2009 recruiting class and left the program after one season. He played at Southern Idaho junior college this past season. He averaged 8.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.1 steals while helping Southern Idaho to a 33-4 record and a national championship.
