<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Magic think highly of Clippers guard Corey Maggette, but it will almost certainly take a sign-and-trade deal to lure him back to Orlando. Maggette started his career in Orlando and still owns a home in Central Florida (where his parents live). But getting him would likely cost the Magic Most Improved Player Hedo Turkoglu in a trade, and that's a deal GM Otis Smith isn't eager to make. Said Smith: "It's going to be awful hard for me to change our core group of guys at this point in time. Our strengths are our forwards and our center position and we're not going to mess with that."</div> Florida Today
If they packaged Turk, Battie, Cook, and Redick, thats just under $20mil....if both Brand and Maggette would agree to take $10mil each in a package deal, Id be for a sign and trade....that would give the Magic a starting lineup of Howard, Brand, Lewis, Maggette, and Nelson, pretty damn awesome and the Clips would get 3 expirings and a 3rd year shooter that also could expire....its a pipe dream at best, but this time a year is about pipe dreams....take out Turk if want and target Brand at $13m on a sign and trade could work just as well if he was interested....

They want to win now over there, not rebuild. Anyways, Smith won't have to trade for Maggette, he'll most likely sign here for the MLE. He's been wanting to come back to Orlando for a long time and has been talking about signing with us since the trade deadline. Now that the Clippers and Sixers aren't in the running for him, it comes down to us, Boston, and San Antonio, teams that have all offered the MLE. All three teams are contenders but he has a starting job here, will make more money since he won't have to pay taxes, and will be with his family and friends. The choice is simple.
