He told us last year that he couldn't stomach another rebuilding process. Now the Blazers want to rebuild out of free agent's and the draft? When are we going to learn that big time free agents don't come to small market teams?

Or maybe there is a smoke screen so other teams over-look our cap space.

Maybe you lied to yourself if you thought this wasn't going to be a rebuilding year?

I think it is more that he came to the realization that we have no chance of winning any other way. No team is going to take the majority of our players in trade for legit talent that would get us to the WCF's next year.

Paul Allen is ready to pay big bucks to skip the slow rebuilding process in return for a competitive team now. Unfortunately, it takes more than money to turn a franchise devestated by injuries around.

Its not rebuilding unless we're blowing it up. Our starters are fine, we just need to get a bench and role players. nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't call that "rebuilding".

Perhaps he felt one way, then changed course because he bought into Olshey's plan. They tried to change in a hurry (i.e. making a big offer to Hibbert), so I don't think it was a lie. I think it's how Paul felt at the time.

Yeah, rook, you should definitely check it out. Lots of "dummy" examples in there (most are from HCP himself).

I missed Paul Allen's quote. What did he say in the last few days?

PA didn't lie. He is paying Stern for the 1st pick in the draft and afterwards Stern is retiring.

BGD would only go for that if you traded that pick ala the Celtics.

Might not be a bad idea considering the 1st pick in the draft is suppose to be a center.

And a weak draft overall. If you could get someone like Varejao or Jefferson (just merely examples - don't worry about names so much, insert name here) for a 1-5 pick then heck yes.

When the choice is rebuild or live with rubble, you rebuild. He didn't lie; no one expected the Frail Blazers of the past three years. So upsetting.

Huge difference in a winning now, sacrificing the future and waiting to use our cap space wisely. Tough to stomach in the short term, but hopefully pays off soon.

This is it. Once an owner hires a GM, he defers to his plan to see whether it succeeds.

I like Varejao and I think he would fit very well with Aldridge. Not to mention that would really make Hickson expendable.

How else can we get better? Trades? Who do we trade? Who do we get back that make us better? We could've gone win now with Steve Nash but that would've been a disaster. Instead, we got a star PG thru the draft.
