He may have stemmed the bleeding, but the numbers are back to where they were before the speech: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/pub.../healthcare/september_2009/health_care_reform
Different poll, different numbers, same conclusion: LINK I didn't think a single speech would change the tide on this debate. It was OK but I wanted more specifics.
I think most people (like me) agree we need health care reform, but just not how to do it. Bush ran into the same thing with SS. There's just too much politics in the political process.
1) tort reform/limitation 2) allow insurers to sell across state lines Two ways to make healthcare more affordable, and neither are being discussed.
You mean the part where he pretended to address tort reform by being receptive to installing temporary test programs?
We all wanted more specifics. The problem is that the specifics of the program doesn't work for him. Robert Samuelsson has a great article about tradeoffs: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/13/AR2009091302250.html
