So... we didn't look great.

But we also outscored our opponent more than any of the other top 25 teams. Only two winning teams had the same or higher score. WVU and Georgia.

I really don't necessarily look at score as my barometer of how well we did.

I look at how we actually played.

Mariota played OK. Numerous bad decisions, bad handoff attempts... I understand he's a freshman and there's a learning curve, but if this doesn't improve we probably will lose a couple of games.

We ran OK, but not great. Our receivers were very good- especially blocking. O-line did average. D-line were very good.

Overall I see a lot of improvement needed.

Hmmmm..... Let's see.... Marcus is good enough to make big plays every snap but sometimes he's going to have to remember that when his checkoffs aren't there, you can't force greatness! Favre did that allot, thus all the pics he had over his career.... Marcus is a freshman for goodness sakes so I think we can all cut him some slack...

That said... back screens using DAT running into the teeth of the defense, botched hand offs, the O line not showing up till the 2nd half to create holes for Barner and DAT, all reasons to be alarmed. Offensive play calling and offensive crispness were bad till the second half without question!

I think most around here are thinking..... "this works against a crap team like WSU, but do we really want to test USC or Stanford this way?" For that I'm in complete agreement!!!!

We have a real team coming in next weekend, time to be surgical!

WU is coming in sky high with confidence, some depth of talent and seemingly solid coaching. I think this will be an excellent test for us. I also think we will win.

Chip needs to find more ways to get DAT the fucking ball. He isn't touching it NEARLY enough.

Is it that defenses are keying in on him? Well, even so it really shouldn't matter. Great players find a way to be great.

In the case of football, great players need touches to do great things.
