#1 see last year. #2 you cannot have the bottom half of the lineup hitting .200 and expect continued success.

Three guys in the line up today hitting at or below the Mendoza line, not exactly enough to scare opposing teams .

Since they scored 11 runs against Tampa bay they've managed to only score 11 runs in the last 6 games COMBINED. In the last 6 games they've been outscored 32-11

7 of our 9 starters are hitting 250 or less
5 of our 9 starters are batting under 240
    Our 8 & 9 hitters are batting a combined 188

Yankees are in the business "to scare" the opposition?
Understandably, the only people the Yankees have
    'scared' are the Yankee fans!

I dont think overachieving or underachieving are the words as baseball seasons have ebbs and flows. I think our current winning % is around what we should expect over 162 games. 1-4 in the lineup has been great. 5-9 in the lineup has been as bad as there is in the league. The pen has been great and will be better when Warren is moved back there and Lindgren is called up. The rotation needs to be a bit more consistent in terms of length from the starters. Beltran needs to step up soon and be consistent or needs to become the 4th OF/2nd DH and Chris Young is a superior defensive player to him. If his bat is as good or better he needs to be the RF. Drew needs to slide to SS and open up 2B for Pirela v Refsnyder tryouts. I think it is between the Yanks and Os in this division with 85/86 wins taking it home. I think the farm could finally offer some support in the dog days of summer. Tinker trades like last year, dont deal the big prospects for anyone. Avoid Troy Tulowitzki like the plague his contract is.

...^^^yup if the starters don't begin going deeper into games the quality of the BP won't matter because they'll be burnt up.

...and if DiDi continues to be in the line up every day and continues to struggle it would not surprise me if Cashman takes it in the ass again by giving away the farm for Tulo.

...I think the Sox will rebound after a bad start but I don't see TB and Toronto hanging with the frontrunners.

I dont see much of a difference between Boston & Toronto. Neither have pitching. Buck is just a great manager and with Wieters on the come I am most worried about the Os. They lack an ace, but they have a rotation of solid # 3 type guys who for the most part keep them in games.

My call would also be between the Yankees & Orioles.

...as bad as Boston's pitching has been so far, Toronto's is even worse. But yeah, Buck will insure the O's will be around.

...fwiw, I still say Buck got a raw deal in NY...he left Torre in pretty damn good shape.

I'm firmly in the overachieving camp. This is a 500 team even with Tanaka because the offense is very spotty. This team cannot consistently score 5+ runs to be a 90+ win team.

Pharma... and it was at more than one company too... when we made schedules for the week/month for personnel, it would be MTWRF for weekdays Weekends would typically be S and U for Saturday and Sunday
