I watched at least 95% of the telecast, and they didn't have a camera shot of him at all. No mention from Rice or Barrett. And he didn't play either apparently. Is he hurt again? If not, I don't see why he wasn't playing.
He wasn't playing because he doesn't belong in the NBA. The most minutes he's played in a game is 19 and he's sat the past two games completely out for a garbage team. He's played 29 minutes the past 7 combined. We'll see if he's even suited up on March 28th and April 7th. I hope he didn't destroy his knee already, but if he did, I hope he sues the Grizzlies and their doctors for making him play.
I sense the youth movement & Darko is finally healthy, they picked up Darius Miles while Darko was down and out
Simple. He sucks so bad he can't even get off the bench for one of the worst teams in the league in a game where they lost TWO other forwards due to injuries. I wonder when Memphis is going to petition the league for a medical retirement waiver so they can save the $300K they owe Miles for the rest of the season. BNM
The point is he has no real value to the Memphis Grizzlies other than damaging the Trailblazers chances to sign a big time free agent with Miles money.
His damage is done, and he played in his 10 games. Look for Darius to not be on Memphis next season, or any team for that matter.
Nice theory, but Darko went out with an injury in the 1st quarter after playing a total of 1:20. Yet, there sat Miles with his ass glued to the bench. Then, in the 2nd quarter, Arthur went out with an injury. Total PT = 7:45. And, still, Miles doesn't get off the bench. The two guys in front of him in the rotation played a total of 9 minutes - and he gets a DNP-CD. Memphis has been on a youth movement since the Gasol trade last season. They were never a team that was one veteran away from making a play-off run. Which is why the Miles signing never made a lick of sense - from a basketball standpoint. They could have picked up a younger player from the D-league who could have helped them more this year, and had a chance to be part of their long term plans. But no, they took Miles, played him enough to screw the Blazers and now let him rot on their bench. Oh well. They suck with, or without him. They are, and always will be, irrelevant. They are the new Clippers. A farm team for the rest of the league. Gay and Mayo are gone as soon as their rookie deals are up. BNM
He only played his 10th game AFTER Memphis waived him and the NBA denied the Blazers their right to claim him off of waivers. Then Memphis picked him up for a few 10-day contracts and finally signed him when they literally had to in order to have 13 active players. The fact that he now doesn't even play for a garbage team at the same time he supposedly should be even more in game shape adds to the Blazers' legal argument.
I really liked what I saw out of Gay at the SF position last night. Mayo refusing to launch a half-court shot while unguarded with 1.7 left in the first half told me all I need to know about him. No thanks. Memphis doesn't last 3 more years as an NBA franchise.
No one said it isn't a messed up situation, but the 10 game mark is bar and he passed it. He even played semi-decently in a few games. The Grizzlies only had to play him in 3 games correct? He's played in 26 for them. And out of those 26 games, he's played 10min or more in 13 of them. Does the situation suck? Absolutely. But the Grizzles were only required to play him in 3 games in order for the money to go back on the Blazers' books, and Miles far exceeded that amount of games. Match Winner - Memphis
He passed it only after he was waived by Memphis and no other team outside of Portland claimed him. Part of me wonders if the NBA was complicit in this arrangement. Match Winner - Memphis still sucks, is going bankrupt, and the Blazers can challenge their denied claim.
LOL I totally agree. He really went out of his way not to lower his shooting percentage. Which reminds me Sergio and Travis always force them up from 50 feet at the end of quarter. We all should remember that when we pull up those useless stats.
Yeah, Grizzlies are a bunch of scrubs for handing the Lakers a dynasty & doing douchebag moves. My other theory was that Darius Miles knee is acting up from the rigorous NBA schedule & he's resting it up for some off-season tryouts overseas...maybe in the Belarus YMCA or Himilayian Monk D-League?
