My city; my home; Chicago. My fiancée and I went out for breakfast and dinner today, taking some photos along the way as we shopped the Magnificent Mile and visited Millennium Park. Check these out and enjoy.

    Where to eat breakfast

Lou Mitchell's; homemade is the best

All this for under $7.00 - 2 scrambled eggs, 6 turkey links, potato hash browns and side of wheat toast (not shown).

Where to eat deep dish pizza

    The original Pizzeria Uno

A small sausage deep dish pizza, the original and still the best from any I've tried.

    Some photos of the city

What's up M Two One. Nice photos. It must be nice going back to Chicago and just visiting the area. I used to live near Chicago when I was younger (I think I mentioned this before), but I never really remembered much of it. It seems like a beautiful city, and I wish that I can revisit sometime in the future

Btw, just a question about your pizza. Where's the cheese? Is it supposed to be all pizza sauce or something?

I was wondering the same about that Pizza too. Maybe tomato sauce on top of the cheese?

    Thanks guys.

@ Brian and Lavalamp - That's a Chicago style deep dish pizza. Pizzeria Uno are the originators of it. The pizza takes 45 minutes to prepare and can be difficult to eat without a fork and knife since it is so thick. The cheese is underneath the sauce along with whatever ingredients you like.

@ Brian - I live near Chicago these days.

M Two One, just out of blind curiosity, have you ever stayed a night at Chicago's Westin Hotel? I'm pretty sure it's the hotel near the airport (or a river???). I remember my dad's company paid for the stay, and it was like one of those super fancy hotels. We had like a pool or jacuzzi all to ourselves, and the dinner was awesome. It's one of the very few things I still remember from Chicago. lol

I've never stayed at that hotel, but I bet it is stellar. The Hotel Monaco is also supposed to be fantastic. I'd like to stay at one of those luxury places for a night or two during my Honeymoon next month since we can't afford to travel far at the moment. I'll have to see.

Here's another photo taken the day after we bought the camera. A small storm hit the area.

Nice pics man, I was born and raised in California, and I lived in the city of Palmdale. It used to snow alot in the 80's and early 90's, but then it stopped, but seeing snow is a wonderful expirience not many get to see in real life, by the way there's a pizza parlor in the city of palmdale that also makes old fashioned way pizza similar like the one shown above with firewood oven baked, and by expirience I can tell you that its top class pizza, not like domino's and pizza hut...lol

I'm surprised by all these people who've never seen/heard of Chicago style Pizza.

    Same here.

BTW, you've been around here before, so have you ever tried Sanfratello's on the south side? They're not deep dish experts, but they have excellent thin crust pizza. Other dishes like their rotolo and lasagna are also excellent quality. You're from the NJ/NY area, so you should be a good judge.

Also for those of you that ever visit Chicago I suggest heading to Greektown and trying out Costa's Greek Dining & Bar and having a Goose Island Urban Wheat beer. Here are the links for those of you that are interested.

We really didn't get to stay for as long as we wanted to, I think we went when I was in 6-7th grade for a wedding. I've never been to Stanfratello, so I can't give any input on that.

I remember we went in the John Hancock center, and had to wait for hours to get a table at the cheesecake factory. I also remember the boardwalk thingy.

Lol at having to eat that with a fork. You don't need a fork. Just New Yorkers with their thin pieces of bread that they try to pass off as pizza get intimidated into using a fork. The use forks and knives to eat their candybars and cookies as well.

Interestingly enough, while spending probably around 365 days+ in Chicago in my life, I haven't really eaten at too many places there. Uno's is the obvious, eaten there a ton. But otherwise I am just eating the stadium food at Bulls games in Chi, eating at family's houses, street vendors, or fast food.

Uno's is easily the second best pizza place I've ever eaten at.
