    No Love?

I am sitting here wondering..How in blue hell do the Chicago Bulls get a nationally telivised game, but the Washington Wizards dont? Last time I checked we had more stars than them, and isnt that what gets you on TV now a days...stars? Because the Bulls are not a good team, the Wizards are better than them...any opinions on this?

I think every team should have atleast 2 nationally telivised games a year, this is how bandwagon fans come a long. A team like Washington, Chicago, etc...are horrible for years and when they finally start to look good they get recognized and people start liking them...

Maybe Washington it isn't Washington's turn yet. But, I feel you. Washington is a better team than Chicago. Maybe they just wanted ti show the Sixers playing someone. If Washington continues to turn heads this season they can get more nationally televised games. I never thought they were allowed to change their nationally televised schedule but, after the Magic made their surprising season last year, they changed their games to someone else.

Newbie hear. I've been a Wiz fan for a long part or my 18 years.

Well to the subject at hand, Why don't the Wizards have any nationally televised games. It seems like ESPN and TNT only like showing Denver, LAL, Cleveland, etc. Since Jordan left, they havnt shown a game on either channel as I recall. And even though I bought League Pass to see the games that are not on CSN, which is only about 15, I still would like some national recognition here. They are without a doubt an exciting team, and though their D may be lacking, I think they deserve to be on Nat TV.

This may just be some weird thing that I am feeling b/c I think they deserve more attention, and even though I get to see all 82 games, it would be nice to see some in ESPN or TNT. TNT especially for HD.

As a side note, do you all ever watch Fastbreak on ESPN2, b/c I usually turn in 1 minute late and watch the rest and I NEVER see a Wiz highlight.

They don't care about the Wizards, I think we talked about it before the season started when we saw the TV schedule, they always hate on the Wizards, and now suddenly some of those guys say the Wizards are their boys

Not many people prejected the wiz to be good this season so when they made the game lists for national television before the year started they wanted teams with stories Houston just got Tmac wonder how good they will be so they got a lot of games on TV. Then the Nuggets have the deepest front court out west now with Kmart wonder how good they will be so they gave them some games. Same with miami they did not have that many last season, despite making the playoffs, but this eyar although they have less depth since they got Shaq they became a nationally televised team.

I think if the Wiz had gotten a big name, and by big name I mean first string All star type player then they probably would have had at least 10 games on national tv. Its the general trend of what happens in the league these days. They look for story lines in there nationally televised games . When the Wiz had jordant hey had a story line the greatest player ever to play in the NBA now they dont really have that any more with them.

Your team is better than ours. However, Chicago sells the 3rd most merchandise out of all 30 teams in the NBA. Right behind the Knicks and Lakers. The Wizards on the other hand don't even break the top 10 in merchandise sold. The team's overall popularity is pretty much the deciding factor on nationally televised games. Chicago sells out pretty frequently. We actually held the record for most sellouts in a row for a while, then Sacramento took it. (And I believe all those sellouts in the streak were post-Jordan era, unless i'm mistaken) Our team was popularized by the greatest player of all time, we have many many fans around the world and throughout America, even if we're sucking the league up big-time this year.

As of now, the Wiz is more exciting than Chicago and much better really. I think they deserved to be nationally televised as well, but I see why they aren't. I guarantee next year they'll have at least 5 nationally televised games.

Oh I know the Bulls are more popular, they were arguably the best team of the 90s. Thats why I think every team should have atleast 2 nationally televised games a year because one team might flop and be a disappointment while another could be a shock.

Just look at it this way...who's a "superstar" on the Pistons? They really didn't get much airtime compared to teams like the Lakers and Spurs, but they ended up winning a ring last season, and now they have about 20+ this season on national TV (I believe).

The Bulls used to have MJ. Now they have Curry and Hinrich. Sorry. I feel your pain though.

The Wizards used to have MJ. The Wizards have Antawn Jamison, Larry Hughes, Gilbert Arenas, and if you want to make the arguement for the high school players..Kwame Brown. So basically what you are saying is invalid because the Wizards have a better crop of players.

Yea I was going to say the same thing, but whatever, you have to earn your National TV time, if they give the teams people don't care much about time, they can't get Dallas, Lakers, Minny and Spurs on TV.

I think they try and expose teams to the national audience who actually have a national following. For instance, Chicago was the team of the 90s and many fans still adore The Bulls, as painful as that may be. Teams like Washington don't really have a fan following outside of their market, they just have people purchasing their Michael Jordan jerseys. Either you have that one star that people are willing to tune in for, or you have a team that has a historic past.

Not to disagree with you though, I'd certainly love to see more of The U of A Wildcat Gilbert Arenas and his Washington Wizards. However it simply won't happen as often because their franchise dwells in the gutter and their roster doesn't have a superstar that can draw big numbers for the cable networks.

Yup, you have to realize that in the end in the NBA, it all comes down to money.

I think he means the NBA itself making money, by televising teams like Detroit, L.A. (Lakers), San Antonion, Miami, etc...big market teams.

Yes that's what I do mean, and even with the players salaries, the owners make like 30 million a year themselves after paying everyone, and that's guys like the Clippers owner, so the owners of the high profile teams like Dallas, LA, New York etc will be making 40+ million, so the players produce a lot of revenue, so theirs not much complain about their salaries except for the cap factors.
