<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Take a moment and sink your teeth into this trade concept?. This is being bantered around the league today. Let be very clear ? I am not saying this is pending ? I have not confirmed that the conversation took place ? I give this to you for food for thought The story is that the Bulls called about Ray Allen and the conversation got to the following point. The Bulls would trade Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, the #1 pick the Bulls have from the Knicks along with cap fillers Thomas and Piatkowski. The Bulls called back and said we can?t do it unless you include Rashard Lewis but we would be willing to include Chris Duhon.</div> <div align="center">Source</div> All those guys for Allen is a rip, but throw in Lewis, and maybe take out Deng or Gorodn, and I don't know maybe. I don't want to ruin our future.
This is b.s., I'm guessing the writer read Chad Fraud's article, which was shamelessly promoting ESPN's new trade machine feature. The Bulls are not jeopardizing their cap space for the likes of Ray Allen. The shooter they are going after is Peja this summer.
I'd be skeptical if this went down. We're obviously having an off-season (not offseason), but I don't think we're ready to throw in our best player and one of our better starters just yet. Actually, the more I look at it, the happier I am dreaming about it: Luol Deng, Chris Duhon, Ben Gordon, Eric Piatkowski, Tim Thomas, and a first rounder for Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Nice. But we'd definately have to cut a player or two, maybe even three. Anyone want Mikki Moore or Rick Brunson?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting bravest:</div><div class="quote_post"> Luol Deng, Chris Duhon, Ben Gordon, Eric Piatkowski, Tim Thomas, and a first rounder for Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Nice. Though I doubt their is any truth to these rumors since Skiles has said he has no deals involving Tim Thomas on the table, but if this was true the Bulls would basically be giving up...... Tim Thomas- A huge contract that expires at the end of the year, and will make any team a huge player in the upcoming free agent market which includes Al Harrington, Ben Wallace, etc. Ben Gordon- A guy who has the ability to average over twenty a game when given starter minutes, and has proven he is more than just a scorer since becoming a starter this season. Luol Deng- Another explosive scorer who can explode for twenty on a given night, and may be the best overall player on the Bulls squad. He struggles with consistency, but he is still very young, and raw. Not to mention he has had to adjust his release since under going wrist surgery during the off season. Chris Duhon- A great young ball handler already has a triple double this season, and is having a great overall year. Has an excellent assists to turnover ratio, has the ability to be a solid guy in the future (as well as now) for any team. Top Three Pick- Could be Aldridge, Gay, or Morrison who could fall to number three, so the Bulls are giving up a chance to draft a guy who may be a future all star. For.... Ray Allen- An all star, but also has a huge contract, and is getting up there in age. Has been on some good teams, but has also had teammates speak about against him from his days with the Bucks. Has also been known as a guy who is critical of his teammates how could he work with the young and sensitive Chandler? Rashard Lewis- Great size, great talent, great player, but also intends to opt out of his contract in a couple of seasons, and could leave Chicago without the Bulls getting any type of compensation in return. I personally think the team loses more than it gains in this deal, and would not do it. I would rather do the Jermaine O?Neal deal then this one. Just asking to much of the Bulls.
Just to put this in perspective, this leaves the Bulls with a very similar lineup to what the Sonics have now: PG - Kirk Hinrich SG - Ray Allen SF - Rashard Lewis Not saying that Hinrich and Ridnour are the exact same player, but they're similar in more than one repect.
Bulls would be stupid to do that trade...they have a nice, promising future to look forward to, and acquiring Lewis and Allen would make them lose any sort of defensive identity that they had...I can pretty much guarantee that the Bulls wouldnt make the playoffs with that core... well, in the East, they just might...
Leave the Bulls alone. They have the players and team chemistry to keep them in the playoffs for years. With the draft and some crafty managerialship they should be able to lift this group to a 3-seed at worst. Trade Deng, Gordon, Songaila or any of the starters? Never.
chad ford sucks and nothing he writes should be taken seriously because he has teams trade like their entire franchises with each other. none of his trades would ever happen.
