Well we finally got to see the Sonics tonight. Anyone else wish they didnt? lol. Maybe Weiss can petition to extend the exhibition season because we need. heres what I saw though

PETRO finally!! and he had a nice dunk at the end of the game and looked active. Still no doubt raw but some presssure may quickly be applied to him if Potapenko and Moore stay out for extended periods of time.

Major problem I saw in this game was that our offense was just poorly done. It looked like we hadnt practiced it at all. Weiss needs to go back to 2 adays and get these guys ready because they werent.

As for the watch on who makes the team and also who plays off the bench from this game the conclusions I came to start and end with Damien Wilkins. The guy was awesome. Absolutey if he can continue what he did tonight and in last playoffs deserves the backup sg and sf minutes with maybe sometime at the 4 (or pushing lewis to the 4 however you want to word it). he needs to be playing Vlades minutes this year. The problem I see though is that we still dont have our backup pg. Sadly our 2 best guards (not named Luke Ridnour or Ray Allen) were head over heels Mateen Cleaves and Alex Scales. Who are of course the 2 guys that dont have a guaranteed contract. Im not sure what Brunson was doing out their besides what has been word hesbeen doing all preseason. And Flip Murray who has been quiet in the preseason looked bad tonight. I know he only played 9 minutes but im pretty sure he never made a pass.

In conclusion I think our replacement for Antonio Daniels this season should play a different role. We however need find someone to be able to play backup point guard. Ive never been sold on Flip and Brunson isnt cutting it. perhaps Mateen Cleaves actually finds his way INTO the rotation this season?!?!

I don't think there will be any problem with cutting Rick, given our payroll is only 46 million. I can't see management having a problem with such a move if Bobby thinks it will improve his roster.

    That was an absolute thrashing.

    Got to love preseason talk.

It's amazing that some people are willing to put the weight of the season on blowout preseason losses. Granted this is not a good sign at all, but we have a veteran team that isn't approaching these games like it's the NBA playoffs. I'm going to wait to reserve judgments.

It's funny how Bob Weiss was brought in to basically run the same ship as McMillan and all I've heard this preseason was how we wanted to get away from some of Nate's tendecies (long winded practices, no cell phone policy on buses, half court oriented, ball pressure defense, etc.). Again I'm beginning to think that Bob is more interested in having a visually pleasing team than a team that wins.

As far as rotation goes, please forgive me if I think that it is absurd to sit Ron Murray for Mateen Cleaves. Flip hasn't played well in the preseason games because I think he is trying to be a "company man" and show that he is capable of running the show from the point guard slot. I remember he didn't play well in preseason games to start the season in 2003-2004 and he just went on to average 22 points a game for the month of November. I'd be more worried about the health of our frontcourt players than who is going to get minutes at the third guard slot.

We have a long way to go and I hope that Bob is going to be able to use an iron fist when he isn't getting the production or respect he needs from the players. Everything can't be a funny sound bite. At some point he is going to have to get the attention of our team and let them know that we aren't going to win too many games if we continue to play as poor as we have defensively.

Contain my ass. We need to get stops.

I am sorry, but did anyone see a "visually pleasing" Sonics team on the floor last night?

I have seen just two games this preseason, and only the first had anything visually pleasing about it.

The defense seems to be getting weaker with each game....
