As expected the CSAC has suspended Chael Sonnen for elevated testosterone levels in his urinalysis following his bout at UFC 117. Sonnen's suspension is for one year or less depending on the outcome of his pending appeal. Sonnen was expected to rematch Anderson Silva for the UFC Middleweight Title at UFC 125 on New Year's day. He will be replaced by Vitor Belfort who gets a crack at Silva's title despite having no fights at middleweight in the UFC. Yushin Okami and Nate Marquardt will fight to determine the next contender at UFC 122 in Germany. A positive steroids or PED test does not mean the end of the line for a UFC fighter's career. Several fighters who have tested positive in the past are still with the company including Stephan Bonnar (boldenone, UFC 62, 9-month suspension), Nate Marquardt (nandrolone, Ultimate Fight Night 1, 6-month suspension), Sean Sherk (nandrolone, UFC 63, 12-month suspension reduced to 6-months after appeal), and Chris Leben (stanozolol, UFC 89, 9-month suspension), among others.
