I like it. I bet Kravtsov goes the other way.

Yep. Deal done but no announcement on the package back to the blues. After that buch trade I’m a little worried

Supposedly a 1st is part of the deal. We'll see, but i too would expect Kravtsov to be part of it.

The biggest worry should be that Tarasenko is on his last contract year and we'll be dumb enough to give out another long-term contract with NMC.

Tarasenko and a defenseman for blais, skinner, a 1st and a 4th. Not terrible and kravtsov still here for the moment. Defenseman is mikko mottolo mediocre at best

I wouldn’t have given up a first, but we can’t have Vesey on a top line

He is a euro pussy, but maybe he won’t play like a pussy in the playoffs. No more Trochek on the pp. Thank God

The 4th becomes a 3rd if they make the playoffs. I would think they still may go after a 4th liner with the 1-2m left.

Absolute steal. The dman is an upgrade for the 3rd pair to play with Schneider. And the 1st we gave up is the one that is worse between ours and the Stars 1st we have - so we keep the better one. The Blues also retained 50% of Tarasenko's cap hit. And we kept Jones and Kravtsov for maybe another depth move.

We basically gave up a lesser 1st round pick for Tara and 3rd pair D upgrade. Love it and love our lines now.

Tarasenko and defenseman Niko Mikkola were traded Thursday by the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Sammy Blais, defensive prospect Hunter Skinner, a conditional 2023 first-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick.

The Blues are retaining 50% of Tarasenko's $8 million cap hit. As for the conditions of the picks, the Rangers have both their original first-rounder and the Dallas Stars' first-round pick from an earlier trade. The Blues will get the later of the two first-round picks, and if the Stars' pick is a top-10 pick, it will shift to next year and the Blues will receive the later of the two picks.

I don't see how Tarasenko as a winger is going to impact Trocheck being on the PP. He generally takes the draws/plays C. Tough to complain about this deal.

There's nothing to hate about the deal, picking up another large dman in the process was icing on the cake.

    Panarin/Z/Tara
    Laf/Chytil/Kakko
    Kreider/Tro/Vesey
    Cuylle/Leschy/Goodrow/Gauthier

    Lindgren/Fox
    Miller/Trouba
    Mikkola/Schneider

That is a heck of a team.

Tara needs to replace Tro on PP1. And I'd focus on adding a Motte type (or Motte himself) to round out the 4th line, and add one more dman for extra depth. Outside of that away we go.

I liked Blackwell alot but he has an extra year on the contract so that might not work.

Tarasenko on PP1 means Zibanejad has to take draws and that is not what any of us should want.

That's exactly what we should want. Zibanejad most games is 50% or better on draws. He got off to a slow start on faceoffs this year. The faceoffs by Trochek on the PP are completely overrated. Just watch the PP. It is average at best and Trochek fucking sucks on it. Who gives a fuck about pp faceoffs if your pp sucks when you have the puck in their zone.

I would think the addition of Tarasenko would shake up the PP but Trocheck is 61% on PP faceoffs while Mika is 44%. I get Trocheck is the new whipping boy and I'm the lone poster who doesn't miss Strome but one of the keys to a good PP is winning faceoffs. A road this team has been down before. The PP has underperformed because of overpassing, needs less Globetrotter more grinding.

Fair point and one thing that Tarasenko does is shoot. I have to imagine he is noticeably more accurate than Trocheck.

I think Tro is a solid player. His FO prowess is big for us. I still maintain I don't see major differences between him and Strome or Copp, even if I do think Tro is a little better I think they are all in the same boat give or take. I have no issue with him, but you see it he just doesn't finish well. That has been his career for the most part. Really solid player, # 2 type C, if he could just finish better/take advantage of his many chances, he'd be another level up. But he struggles there.

As for the PP, I think adding a shooting L over Tro is a big plus. Yes Z may not be as good on FO's, but overall I think the swap of Tro to Tara would be a positive for the slightly stale PP.
