<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A short list of people outside of Cleveland who should be rooting for the Cavaliers tonight to finish their stunning upset of the Detroit Pistons, in no particular order:

    The NBA.

    Television.

    The Heat.

And Heat fans -- well, at least those whose interest in the next round is an opponent either more beatable or more interesting than Detroit.

Cleveland is both, but it's the ''more interesting'' part that is the aphrodisiac.

''BRING ON LEBRON!'' would be a slightly more visceral way of putting it.

No doubt those who disagree want Detroit for the rematch factor, after the Pistons ousted Miami in last year's seven-game Eastern Conference finals due largely to Dwyane Wade's late-series rib injury.

But forget that. ''We owe them!'' is from the script of a bad sports movie. ''Unfinished Business'' is a bumper sticker. It isn't as if the Pistons and Heat have a long, bitter history predating their 15-day scrum last year.

From a detached perspective, Heat-Pistons would have a rerun feel, and Detroit -- God love that teamwork; five pieces equaling the glove that makes the fist -- doesn't wiggle the sizzle meter a whole lot. In a league that markets and sells star individuals, the Pistons run on a homogeny. Arguably their best player, Chauncey Billups, has the name of someone who should be serving afternoon tea in an English manor.

Think of how Heat-Pistons and Heat-Cavaliers might be promoted as East finals pairings by TV.

Think yesterday vs. today. Yesterday is the low-post NBA -- big bodies banging, Ben Wallace and Shaquille O'Neal butt-dancing in the paint. Shaq edged Wallace by a single vote for All-NBA first-team center, but there are more interesting players to watch now. Two in particular come to mind.</div>
