<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nuggets could have more than $20 million in cap room available next summer. You hear they have designs on Quentin Richardson or Rasheed Wallace, and neither of those fellows will come cheap. But Vandeweghe -- while obviously not able to talk about players on other teams -- says that even if Denver makes free-agent moves next summer, he's not overhauling the roster. "I think our circumstances are a little different" than Orlando's, Vandeweghe said. "What we're doing is adding guys. Our core group is going to remain the same. We're not going to get rid of a lot of guys to get one great player. It's a little bit of a different scenario. You're not coming to a team where the cupboard's bare. You've got some pretty significant pieces under contract and signed. And we've got some extra draft picks stored up which might help us, too." Vandeweghe says he'd trade anybody if he thought it would help the team, but he has no desire to break up what he considers the heart of the team: Anthony, Miller, Nene, Marcus Camby and Boykins. "And I think Skita (last year's first-round pick, Nikoloz Tskitishvili) is going to come along," he said. "I think we have a good core group. I think it's a team that players would like to come to. We play a style that's fun to play. There's a lot of shots for everybody."</div> Full Stroy, By David Aldridge DA is an idol of mine, great piece that I suggest everyone reads. KJ
Any article D.A. has wrote I'll read. He's my favorite anaylist and I love watching fastbreak when he is on it. As for the Nuggets, I wouldn't rush anything this summer, maybe add one player or two. As much as I would hate to see the Clippers losing Q, I would make him the #1 player to pursue. I think Q would be great playing alongside Carmelo and Miller again.
Nice article. I think the best thing to do is slowely build up the team. Dont let the money blur your vision.
The Nuggets have a good mix of young and old. They've got a team that will make the playoffs in the upcoming years, but as of right now defintely not a championship team. If they want to be a championship team down the road, I'd wait for their younger guys to develop, and try to sign players that will help down the road. Quentin Richardson would make a nice addition, but not if they spend a lot on him. If they want to keep some money, add some role players. Then just watch Carmelo and co. develop under the guidance of some veterans.
First, whoever becomes a free agent this season, we MUST sign, because the Nuggets have argueably the best team chemistry, and to lose ANY of our key players would be terrible. Second, with all the money we have left, maybe we can get a good free agent, but not one that demands a lot of money.
i could see the nuggets signing vin baker over the summer. maybe a less distracting setting for Vin would help him get back on the right track. but maybe not.
