and chad ford's article states we are goin to trade VC.... i certainly hope not... cuz VC has been great for the nets... and hes being a good leader to the youngsters... i for one appreciate what VC is doing!!!
I highly doubt Vince goes anywhere. He puts butts in the seats. Of course, I can easily see the arguments for why he might be traded (ie: let the young'ins play and develop).
Yeah I do also appreciate what VC is doing. With that said, now that the arena is being pushed back to 2011, this might hurt us in the Lebron and Wade race. I say we dump VC get as much cap space as possible, develop current players, and add more young pieces ala Portland Trailblazers.
but vc hasnt done anything to warrant a trade... why would u trade him? his trade value is low... we would get ripped off... and i love vc sorry!!!
listened to the blazers podcast. they said vince would be one of the pieces that would put portland over the top and into the elite. if they trade raef, the money works out. the podcast hosts were not oppose to it either surprisingly. i know since 2004 when vince demanded a trade, portland was very interested then, and most people do not realize how close vince was to becoming a blazer then, and now that he might be available, talks are starting up again. vc to clippers, lakers or blazers is what I am hearing. but its all rumors. could and probably will amount to nothing.
oh i dont think the nets would do it. im just saying that vince is in the trade winds. but not for him demanding a trade, but teams are looking for him as a big piece to add and make them into elite teams. makes no sense for the nets. cause if they get rid of vince, and clear cap space, why would lebron want to come to jersey? with vince and devin, at least thats a great backcourt that would help him. i hope you are not accusing me of not being a nets fan. these video clips from 2002 that i captured will hopefully show you that i have been following the nets since kidd arrived. http://sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121140
Frees up cap space at the end of the season. I still wouldn't do it. If we're trading Vince, I want young prospect in return. Regardless of what we get, I really don't want to trade him right now anyway.
only way i trade for that is lafrentz and roy!!! (which would be IMPOSSIBLE) lol maybe they wana give us oden.... a lineup of devin at 1 simmons at 2 Yi at 3 Lopez at 4 and oden at 5 LOL... that would be funny.... be in all seriousness only way i think rod would do it if we get roy which portland wont do....
There is absolutely NO WAY the Nets are going to trade Carter this season unless and until the Nets are stinking and out of the playoff race by February, and they only do it then if it includes at least one good prospect or first round pick. With the attitude and leadership Vince has displayed ever since the Kidd trade, not to mention the fantastic basketball he played on one ankle last spring, there is nothing less than that that would make it anywhere close to worthwhile for the team. I had a good feeling about this team after the RJ trade and draft, and that feeling has grown steadily with all the developments in the off and pre seasons. They are going to surprise, and it's much more important for the growth of our young players to have a chance at playoff experience and winning than it is to drop to the cellar and hope for rescue from the lottery. Not that suitors for Carter won't come around at the deadline. If he plays as exceedingly well and as consistently this year as I predict, his value will accordingly go up, much like after his trade to NJ when he set the league on fire for several months. But I still don't think a trade happens unless the Nets are realistically out of the playoffs by the deadline and a great offer is made.
Unless Portland decides to hand over one of their good young prospects, I don't see it happening. With Carter gone, there will be less reason for certain fans to show up. He may not be half-man/half-amazing, but he's still a hot ticket. Yes, Misa Campo.
I was under the assumption that unless Vince declines a lot or gets injured badly, we won't trade him for less than we got for Kidd. A good young piece to build around, 2 picks, and cap space. If Portland wants him, they'd have to give up Raef, 2 picks, and probably Rudy.
WAIT in my nba 2k9 game VC has a no trade clause... even in the 2k8 version as well... sooooo does he really have one?!?!
I think VC will and should remain a Net. He is the leader on this new Nets team and if we trade him, it would hurt the younger players who now have a bond with and look up to VC. And also VC has been very upbeat and professional with all the Nets are doing. He has been real patient with the organization and believes in this team. I wouldnt trade Vince now. Maybe if things looked really really bad around the time of the trade deadline then I would then consider it but I think this team with Vince can be pretty good this season..we'll see tho. And when Vince is confident and 100% healthy, he is a damn good player too! and we wouldnt get back the same value for him, so no trading VC yet
I don't think Ptd is looking to add Carter to the mix . . . but if the Nets are looking to trade him (that's the street rumor with the Nets rebuilding and possibly going after Lebron) and if the Blazers wanted him: Raef (expiring contract paid by insurance) Outlaw/ Webster/Bayless 1st round draft pick Is that a decent rebuilding package?
