Yankee pitching staff currently has ( A.L) the lowest ERA, WHIP, most Ks and tied for 2nd lowest BAA. (.245).

Turning a corner in ST, at least it's more pleasant citing those numbers instead of having our guys looking like batting practice pitchers.

Be nice to see the hitting begin to pick it up and avoiding injuries is a must......the injury bug seems to be already biting a lot of the teams.

I just took a look at ST team pitching stats for all ML.
(At the time of this writing)...

Yanks still lead in ERA, Ks, 2nd in WHIP 1.15 ( L.A. 1.14), and tied for 5th with T.B. for BAA .245.

Pretty darn good and still "pleasant" to look at!

    Go Yanks!

If healthy I never pictured the pitching as a problem this season. It's really about this offense being able to drive in runs.

ST means nothing except to the kids who
will not be on the parent team. Stats begin
April 6th. BTW, everyone is optimistic
    in March........probably because spring has
    arrived.....for some.

I hear ya, it's still only ST -
But looking at the poorer M.L. team rankings (at this point) for those stats, could be a serious indication some teams are having less success and more difficulty tweaking and settling their pitching staffs.

Look at the Yankees first 30 games, brutal schedule to start the year, then come back and chat. The Yankees had a decent spring in '14 before the pitching staff fell apart. I have noticed though as I'm sure others on this board that there are players going down like subs all around. Unfortunately for us though the other teams have GM's who can step up and make deals to fix their problems.

Yep, first 30 games are rough, but we'll have 132 more.
I agree, have noticed teams getting hit with injuries.

"Yanks" did a decent job rebounding last year from some injuries to their SP- imo.

I just hope the team avoids serious injuries and the offense doesn't drag the team down like last year.

...ST means squat...same with ST stats, hence "grain of salt". Have the pitchers looked good?...yes, but they are mostly throwing against youngsters who won't make their team anyway. You can't put any value one the Yanx pitching having good number anymore than you can place value on the fact that 6 of 9 of the probable opening day starting batters are averaging hitting around .200 (McCann, Tex, Gardner, Drew, Ellsbury, and Beltran)...that too is going to migrate toward the norm.
...the Yanx, A's, Dodgers, D-Backs, and Royals are all on track to win 100+ games...while the Giants, Tigers, and O's are on pace to lose 100 games...these ST projections are not a viable gauge for what happens once the regular season starts.

I'm sorry. I get more action out of watching
my eggs boil than watching this team play.

I just hope the team stays relatively healthy and avoids serious long term injuries.
If so, I have a feeling most of those media talking heads who get paid to give their opinions are going to get a surprise.

Staying healthy is only half that game, these guys also have to remember how to hit & do the little things its takes to win games.

At the risk of this becoming "redundant" to some, lol -
I think if, if, lol, the team stays relatively healthy, of course the pitching comes to mind, but if we're talking about remembering how to hit and do the little things to win games, staying "healthy" includes Beltran, Tex, McCann, Ellsbury, Gardy and Headley.
If those guys stay healthy and don't go down with lingering injuries, the Yankees will do enough hitting and little things to win more games than most people expect with a fair chance of winning considerably more games than most expect.

Unfortunately, keeping all of those guys "healthy" is easier said than done.
I'm not expecting all of them to play (at least) 150 or so games.
IMHO, if the Yanks do get lucky and keep those players on the field to have their ABs, this team could win the division.

...to add to the redundancy, keeping the pitchers healthy and performing to their abilities will require a lot of luck also.

...yeah, if ALL of the planets are aligned perfectly the Yanx could win the division. But the large number of "ifs" is precisely what others use to formulate the opinion that they won't win the division.

..."if" I were better looking, and if I were 3o years younger, and if I were filthy rich,...I might have a shot at Kate Upton.
