yep think of it van exel - barry - finley - horry - mohammed/fabricio damn thats one heck of a team spurs are really really deep this year can u say : Champions ?
No It couldn't. The bench is very good and the best bench in the league but would not get close to the playoffs.
The bench would not make the playoffs, there are teams that wouldn't make the playoffs that are better in the bench. The bench is probably the best bench but not a bench that could make the playoffs on its own.
Still, though, they're depth is just unreal. If they don't win the championship, I'd be very surprised, even if they get plagued by injuries.
Dallas got a good bench too Devin Harris - Marquis Daniels - Jerry Stackhouse - Keith Van Horn - DeSagana Diop
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Aggiehoopsfan:</div><div class="quote_post">Maybe as an 8 seed in the east</div> Not a chance, the east is better than you think. There are four teams alone that could be in the top three in the West, and that's just the top four. One of those top four won't make a three seed in the East, as a result of the way Division winners are ranked. There is far more depth and talent in the East than you are giving credit for. And yes, the Spurs have a potent bench, but if you make those oldsters play 35+ minutes a game for 82 games this season, they finish dead last whatever conference they play in.
Is the Raptors' starting lineup worse than the Spurs' bench? Mike James / Morris Peterson / Jalen Rose / Chris Bosh / Aaron Williams I don't see a real advantage the Spurs' bench have at any position except center. Other than that, it's a wash. Therefore, could the Spurs' bench make the playoffs? Nope.

All of those players on the bench are great when they are put on the floor with younger guys. Together they would get run off the floor like a team in the second game of a back-to-back. No disrespect, but all of the Spurs bench has lost a step from when they were in their prime. Think about Barry and Horry. Their offensive games are nothing but open threes, and NVE hasn't been called Nick the quick in years.

Now you are underestimating them. Also I fail to see 4 teams in the east that could be top three in the west. Maybe 3 at most, yet 2 of those teams are young/streaky/injury prone/ inconsistant. So talent is there but just not enough yet. I'm guessing your fourth was the pacers....did you see them play the bobcats tonight? Also once the suns get stoud back this whole argument become silly in anycase. The east will be better than the west in a few years as they have the most youth. At the moment though they still have some work to do.
Spurs bench is amazing but then again.....any team with Duncan is amazing. I call Spurs champions again and again and again. J/K. But seriously, Spurs are an excellent with talent for the present and future.

The Pistons will have a rough go of it this year, but it'll be fun to watch, one way or the other.
finley's 8ppg and van exels 6ppg are enough to carry the spurs to the playoffs. No need to bring up Barry's 2ppg.
