Well, I wanted to do this comparison because I know that their are strong beliefs that one team is better than the other. These two teams are "arguably" the best two teams in the entire NBA, and I want to know who you think A. has a better chance this year of winning it allB. Who you think is bettterdiscuss.....I will post later
Mavs. The spurs still don't have an answer for Dallas's lineup. Putting Oberto on Dirk will just allow Dirk to go off easier. Going small and the mavs will badly outrebound the spurs.
I have to go with the Mavs as well. They just have too much firepower this year for the Spurs to take them out in a playoff series. Plus I believe Dirk is ready to step it up to the big time and just completely own the playoffs. We'll have to see what happens, because the Spurs are still a great team, and I believe the most complete because of their huge compliment of role players.
Spurs, even Greg Popovic is saying that their Defense is slowing down this year. Besides even without their aging problems they are not as good of a team (however barely) as the Mavs. Tony Parker is a great player and can penetrate better than anyone else in the league, but that is about the only advantage they have over the Mavericks. San Antonio has Ginobili, Devin Harris can slow him down, hey he was able to stop Dwayne Wade the first two games of the finals and bother him through the rest of the finals. Dallas has Josh Howard, sure Bruce Bowen is a great defender but Josh Howard has really improved as of late and is looking to soon become an all-star. The main battle of the two teams is Dirk and Duncan, Dirk has an advantage with his versatility but if Duncan is having a good night he can light up the stadium. Whoever performs better out of these two will end up being the winner. The battle down low, Francisco Elson and Eric Dampier, no doubt in my mind that Dampier would dominate this matchup. The Mavericks bench has some fire power this year, which it didn't have as big of before. Devean George, Anthony Johnson, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagna Diop, not to mention others...Not taking away from the spurs bench of course, they have Brent Berry, Robert Horry, etc. but that bench doesn't stand up to what the Mavs orginization has put together. This is very close and the Mavs may be the better team, but what it would really come down to in a 7 game series is who wants it more, these teams are too close in skill to think that one team will just cruise by in a couple games. This series would definetely go to 7 games.

That depends on if Amare keeps progressing and stops turning the ball over like he has done this year. The Suns played a crappy game against you guys and still nearly won on the road. I know you are tired of Phoenix getting all the media attention so I'll leave it at that. You can hate on them all you want right now.Out of these two teams I think the Mavericks are better and should finish as the runner up in the West. I don't think this San Antonio team is as amazing as they have been before. The Mavericks have been getting better, their defense is finally worth all the hype. I just like their trio better than the Spurs right now. I think San Antonio will have a tougher time putting up points on them and Duncan will be worn out trying to fight the Dallas big men for rebounds. The bench is also very much in favor of the Mavericks.
I think the Spurs and Mavs are evenly matched. You could give the edge to the Mavericks for last year's win. But come on, we were one play from losing it all. The winner of this matchup is whoever has the most luck. That's all I can say, it's basically like flipping a coin.

The spurs lost both Mohammad and Nesterovic and Bowen is getting old along with the entire bench. They are really struggling right now. Not enough behind Duncan, Manu, and Parker.

I'll say the Mavs have the better team and they have probably the most complete team in the NBA. They have a star with great role players, defense, youth, veteran leadership, a great bench, good coach, etc.

I think the experience the spurs had a couple years ago is not as important as last year and the spurs got knocked out in second round while the mavs got to the finals. Advantage mavs.

Age has nothing to do with it. As for Nesty/Nazr, did you not watch the series. They had no impact on the Mavs/Spurs series, so why even mention them. Your just a homer if you think it's a cakewalk over the Spurs and were that better. Please, last year's series has Mavs fans like you glazed about what happened over the course of the series. Each game withstanding the 2 blowouts were down to the wire. Whoever made a key play in those games or had something go their way, won the game. Game 7 is the epitomy of that. Manu hits a 3, Dirk comes back with a 3 point play. I don't see any reason for it to be different this year.

Somehow I have the feeling the suns will knock off the spurs in second round. The suns scare me a little more. We had trouble in our last game at home and barely won it. Also I'll have to disagree with you on age. Both Miami and San Antonio are going backwards imo. Especially Miami but the small lineup the spurs put out in the playoffs last year was really old. I doubt some of those same players get as many minutes this year because of their declining. (Finley, Barry, Bowen, and Horry)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The suns scare me a little more. We had trouble in our last game at home and barely won it.</div>Just like the last Spurs game? I doubt it, the Spurs have signed some young guys to their teams to groom and also have a well organized management that scouts with the best and your acting like the Spurs are just going to stay the same. Plus, that their better suited to reach under the cap before the Mavs, puts them in a pretty good boat.

Stackhouse was bricking like crazy. It changed the whole outlook on game 6 with Terry being out. The mavs won in San Antonio in game 7 so I would think it would give them a better chance to win at home if Terry was there. I guess you'll never know.
I think the Mavs are the better team this season. They're by far the deepest team in the West and they have a great all around team. They have an emerging star in Josh Howard, a great scoring guard in Jason Terry, and one of the best players in the league in Dirk Nowitzki. They're winning on the road and they are playing great defense. The Mavs used to be like the Suns with alot of scoring but no defense, Avery has this team playing great defense and they are the favorites to win the title this year. The Spurs are a great team, but I think the Mavericks have the deeper bench which makes them the best team in the league. The Mavs never get tired because of their deep bench and they have some players like Anthony Johnson, Jerry Stackhouse, Austin Croshere, and Deavan George that can bring a spark off the bench and allow the starters to rest. I like the Spurs in the because they have experience winning 3 titles, but the Spurs don't have a bench and the Mavericks just seem to be the better team this season.
well well well I would take the spurs over the mavs any day,and I think we are going to win the title this year and Yeah we lost to tem yesterday but we beat them in Game 2 so its 1-1 and Yeah I would take Duncan over dirk any day who the F*ck need a3 point shoter as PF also duncan better deffender, blocker, rebounder and inside scorer and clutch player and leader.
