http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/60239/20090701/spurs_suns_trying_to_make_room_for_odom/ Please Odom... stay with us... Im actually OK with 10M a year... but d*mn im having some mental block right now... how much was his salary last year? around 12M right? If yes then at least it decreased. LOL
I think they're both trying to bid up his price. He actually only made $10M or $11M last season against the Lakers cap. San Antonio would make a lot more sense than Phoenix, but Odom wants to remain a Laker.
Yea, i know he want to remain a laker... but... the "championship" factor isnt that strong anymore bec. of what San Antonio looks like with him around... Parker - Manu - RJ - Odom - Duncan... damn
Yeah their lineup is beastly with this starting five. Odom would work there because he'd only be the 4th option on the team which he thrives at. Andrew Bynum would have to breakout next year and remain healthy. Fortunately for the Lakers there's a lot of quality role player free agents this summer to fill any voids.
Plenty of options available ... David Lee, Paul Millsap, Hedo Turkoglu, Shawn Marion, Ron Artest, Rasheed Wallace, Antonio McDyess or Marvin Williams
I thought Odom made 12 mil last year. Reports were 15 mil, but there was an article saying that isn't true...it was 12 mil. Oh well, w/e. I think he'll be back in LA.
John Ireland said it's actually in the ball park of $10 to $11M. I forgot all the details of Odom's complicated contract. There's a trade kicker involved and some other bonuses I think.
In order for the Spurs to get under the cap, and be able to offer up a 10 million per year contract, they have to shed out 23 million in salaries. They currently have 71 million committed in salaries, not including their rookies. Good luck with that. Suns are 62 million not including rookies, so in order to sign Lamar, they'd probably have to clear up 14 million in salaries. Again, good luck with that. Both would have to dump tremendous amounts of salary on teams under the cap, just to have a shot. So again, good luck, but I don't see it happening.
Yeah they can't offer more than us, so it sounds bogus. Why would the Suns want him? They're rebuilding and cutting costs, makes no sense.
I think writers are just pulling shit out of their ass. Plug in free agent X with team Y and make a rumor!
Yeah, it looks like a bunch of BS. SUns won't hire an aging player when they are clearly moving to rebuild, and Spurs can't offer that much anyway.
Yeah, I guess you have a point, but it seems too much in to pay. Since essentially it's gonna cost them 20Mil to sign Odom cause of the luxury tax. I don't see it happening.
I think we actually have lesser bidders for Odom anyway, so more attention is being given to Ariza. I bet he likes it that way. lol
I can see Ariza's agent, now if we sign Odom first. "By signing Odom first, they showed us they don't want us here. My client is going to take a 4 year, $15 million dollar deal from the Bobcats just to spite them."
Sounds like a good move if they wanna piss us off. 4 year deal means Trevor can beat us 8 times in a row, since we never win against the Bobcats.
