Alain Vigneault has announced that Marc Staal has a concussion. (Rangers)

Early indications are that this concussion is not as serious as his previous concussion.

Staal has conversed with the Rangers concussion specialist in Michigan but no visit is planned as of now.

So who knows when he will be back. To me I don't think we can count him in at all anymore. And after his deal is up next year I don't see how we can re-sign him long term It is a shame really. Him and Sauer, two important dmen, crushed by concussions.

I would also say look to deal Staal when he is back, but who would really deal for him? Maybe it is worth it just to clear his extra cap space for next season. Who knows.

And the worst kept secret in hockey is official. If he comes back I say make a call to carolina which might be the only team that might give us something because of the rest of the family down there. Other than that unless a miracle happens with his health(not likely) can't see him being resigned. Damn shame as he was one of our best players before his stupid brother gave him that elbow. :sigh:

All the more reason to try and trade some guys, re-stock with draft picks and move on.

Staal's was not a headshot clown. He basically ran into the shoulder of the guy with his jaw and because he's now made of glass, he got hurt again. A normal player doesn't even miss a shift after that.

That was kind of a nothing hit for him to get hurt by. Easy to forget how big these guys are and how fast they are moving.
