Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of veteran non-import offensive lineman Matt Sheridan. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed. "Matt has a great deal of CFL experience and he'll be a nice addition to our offensive line," said Hufnagel. "We've been talking to him off and on throughout the off-season and I'm pleased that we were able to come to an agreement." Sheridan was originally drafted by Winnipeg in the sixth round (40th overall) of the 2000 CFL Draft. He spent eight seasons with the Blue Bombers and was twice named Winnipeg's most outstanding offensive lineman. He was out of football in 2009. "I'm excited for the opportunity to get back on the football field," said Sheridan. "I look forward to the chance to compete and contribute to a successful organization such as the Stampeders."
