The Calgary rookie kicker had to take a moment to think about it outside a jubilant Stampeders locker-room Saturday afternoon. “Like, high school, man,” he finally replied with a smile. “I didn’t get one in college. It’s been a while.” But his Stampeders teammates would have to agree it was worth the wait as Maver capped a dramatic afternoon at creaky old Ivor Wynne Stadium — which survived (unfortunately, some would say) a pre-game fire in the press box — with a 23-yard field goal with 10 seconds left to play to give the Stamps a gritty 23-22 victory.
